Had a good experience with the Sales man Darek, we felt that he worked hard and was willing to help us out and show us different vehicles and had them pulled up for us and we were able to take them out on that he worked hard and was willing to help us out and show us different vehicles and had them pulled up for us and we were able to take them out on a test ride with out the salesman. However they still do the haggling for the final price, we ended up buying a new car because they would not negotiate much with the used cars and were willing to come down some on the new cars. The real turn off was when we were in the finance office. First there is a lot of high pressure sales tactics used to push the extended warranty and the "Total McGrath experience". We listened to the spiel and politely declined but had to listen to the new spiel. They would not give the full price of these packages and would only give "how much a month" it would cost and I finally had to pull out my phone and use the calculator to see that they wanted to add $5000.00 for the extended warranty with additional cost for the "Total McGrath Experience" which they quickly confirmed with out referring back to their computer indicating that they knew what the cost was when I was asking. Then when I politely declined then a Manager comes in to make sure that "everything was explained well" which was another sales pitch. When I then became upset and was going to walk out they made amends by offering free "gap coverage" a $500.00 value for free but had to pay the tax on this. When you read the fine print if you make a significant down payment, which I did, it negates the use of the Gap Coverage. Also there was a "miscommunication" resulting in a $600.00 dollars that was added on for accessories that allegedly was not in the negotiations, which I had to point our was clearly circled on the paper as included in the negotiated price. I only noticed this after looking at the paperwork very carefully. Final word, Love the car but be very careful when you purchase a car there and read everything closely!!! More
Being a woman I was uneasy about going to the dealership (especially after previous experience with other dealers) but I was pleasantly surprised at Mcgrath Honda in Elgin. From the internet salesperson on (especially after previous experience with other dealers) but I was pleasantly surprised at Mcgrath Honda in Elgin. From the internet salesperson on the phone to the car salesman (Anthony Juliano) and finally the business manager, everyone was respectful and professional. There were no schemes or typical car salesmen tactics that usually are condescending and intimidating. Really, it was a pleasant experience. I walked out a happy customer who will sing their praises for years to come. More

Visiting a car dealership is not one of my favorite things to do. When it was time to buy I was apprehensive but, when it's time, it's time. Alberto Melchor was my sales person. He is extremely know things to do. When it was time to buy I was apprehensive but, when it's time, it's time. Alberto Melchor was my sales person. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient when I asked questions and never pushy or leading. If you're going to McGrath, I would recommend Alberto. Trey in finance was pleasant and didn't treat me like a criminal (after all my previous dealings with finance departments, it was actually a decent experience)! There wasn't any switching around to what Alberto & I had agreed upon out on the showroom floor. Back to Alberto - - after finishing in finance he didn't just hand me the keys and walk away. He went over the operations of the controls, answered my questions & set up my Bluetooth! Over all a great experience and I would recommend McGrath to anyone! More
Other than dealing with the Finance Department, the purchase of this used car was a pleasant experience. Almost all McGrath personnel were extremely helpful, everyone from the receptionist, to sales purchase of this used car was a pleasant experience. Almost all McGrath personnel were extremely helpful, everyone from the receptionist, to sales staff, and managers, but especially Alberto Melchor. Alberto was very helpful, knowledgeable and his customer service skill are above reproach. After a couple minor mechanical issues were resolved, the sale of the vehicle le was a pleasant experience. That is until we were introduced to Kevin in the Finance Department. Although I had prior financing approval from Bank of America, who partners with McGrath Honda, Kevin stated he had to run additional credit checks thru other lending institutions. After excusing himself multiple times to leave the office, he returned and stated I was not approved. I told him again I was approved for financing and he stated he has not heard back from Bank of America. He again excused himself and returned with his manager, Long story short, the finance manager stated he made some calls was able to get finance approval thru Harris bank at a slightly rate, At that time, I should have got up and walked out the door. Although the interest rate was slightly higher and the monthly payment was only "pennies a day" more, I feel the finance department played their finance game for their advantage and not for the benefit of the customer. I was a first time car buyer and did a lot of research on both cars and dealerships around the chicagoland area. I was weary of going to this dealership because of all the poor reviews its received, but I a both cars and dealerships around the chicagoland area. I was weary of going to this dealership because of all the poor reviews its received, but I am super happy I gave them a chance! I knew which car I wanted and the price I wanted to pay for the car, from all my research I did. I was lucky enough to work with JORDAN BROWN, who is an excellent salesman. I told him that I was returning to school and would be commuting about 60 miles a day, so I would need a reliable long lasting car. I was in-between two cars which was a hyundai elantra and the honda civic. After the test drive, I was pretty set on the civic but told him the excellent deal hyundai gave me. In my opinion, I think Hondas are a better built car than hyundai so I didn't mind paying a little bit more, but Jordan was extremely close to coming to the price I wanted to pay for the car (only $50 difference, plus threw in a couple extras accessories) After working with Jordan, I worked with their finance department, and had the pleasure to work with KEVIN MOORE and he was able to get me a great APR rate for a first time buyer. I was comfortable working with these two associates over at Mcgrath Honda in Elgin and never felt pressured at all. It was really a very smooth experience for me and did very little haggling, since they were able to work with what I wanted and the price I wanted it for. I am absolutely IN LOVE with my car and extremely happy with everything! Do your homework folks and if you do decide to go with Mcgrath Honda in Elgin, I definitely recommend working with JORDAN BROWN. More
Obviously, its my fault for not walking away but the methodology that is used at McGrath was only focused on them making money. But I really liked the car they had. Up until we started to start talkin methodology that is used at McGrath was only focused on them making money. But I really liked the car they had. Up until we started to start talking money and secure the purchase of the vechile things were good, friendly, helpful and moving along swimmingly. Once the paperwork came out and we started talking about a deal, the way they went about the deal is focused and only about them making the most they can off my purchase.....period. I felt they low balled my trade in, and didn't exactly explain what was going on with it. Again that is my fault for not getting an exact explanation about it. However, as I look back they presented really high monthly payments to secure some ballpark numbers (which I really feel was for them) then jumped to the extended warranties they have, which is called the McGrath advantage. But the way on paper it is presented to the customer is not up front and understandable. So customer beware. When the paperwork comes out they will make the deal seem very different than what it really is. They have a step by step methodology and it is very misleading. The misleading procedure to purchase a car at McGrath Honda in Elgin is the reason I gave them a BAD overall experience with buying there. I would preface any recommendation I give about their store with the above experiences I have had. More

The dealership is a great place to get a car from. I am so happy that the service end will go out of their way to please a costumer who is frustrated and busy. they have always got me out the door as fast so happy that the service end will go out of their way to please a costumer who is frustrated and busy. they have always got me out the door as fast as possible. I am a busy person (single mom two kids all of us in school and working). The service department really wants to make sure they are taking care of their costumers, and i made a survey earlier about how the back end was not doing good. I want to re-track that because i was able to talk to CJ, and he and i were able to clarify the miscommunication that we had between each other. Then i made a comment about the outside guy who comes in to help out. He acutely went out of his way today form a job he was doing to SHOW me how to use my remote start. I really feel awful because once we were able to really clear things up, and i had solid answers It was an easy sail from there. I'm really sorry to the service department. Communication is key, and it just was not their partly bc my phone is bad, and some other slight things. Thank McGrath for being awesome!!! (-= More
I want to say buying a car from here was ok! Kevin the finance guy was cool(: my sales guy was still new, but he listened to what i wanted, and satisfied me in the end. Everyone on the front the finance guy was cool(: my sales guy was still new, but he listened to what i wanted, and satisfied me in the end. Everyone on the front end is great!!! The back end ( SERVICE) forget about it ... 3 days to get a starter on my car... and i still dont have it. The only communication i received was me blowing their phones up. They called me the day i drop .it off to tell me it wasn't done yet. I was at work, im a single mom tsking care of two young kid's. Going to college and working all the time. All i wanted was to be updated why the guy they hired from the outside had to come back the next day. This has caused me to worry and wonder about if the guy hired..from the outside busted my car.!?!!?!? So im extremely pissed annoyed, i think the receptionist hates me!!! This is the worst experience to deal with being in the dark. If you are fimilar with the black market one would understand); More
