The sales experience was great. The issue is at the business portion of the transaction. We waited 90 minutes one day after being told that we were next in line, etc. Had to come back the next day business portion of the transaction. We waited 90 minutes one day after being told that we were next in line, etc. Had to come back the next day because we ran out of time - this was an all cash sale that could have been transsacted in 20 minutes. Give your sales people real time feed back on when the business office will be able to do their paperwork. The business office is busy getting financing and selling warranties and seems to have little or no concern for the next customer. Process is severly flawed! More
I went there to purchase a CRV. My sells was great. He was friendly, nice, and not pushy at all. The sale manager on the other hand was not. He did not want to work with my wife and I. We fault like he looked down on us because we're young. He talked to use really low, and paid no attention to what we were saying. There service department was horrible. At the time we thought they were good only to find out later that they did not do things right. My heat shield start to rattle a few days after I purchase my car, so I brought it back in. They told me that they had the shield in stock and will replace it free of charge. Later to find out from another Honda dealer that there was no heat shield installed. Another issue, when I purchase the CRV it had brand new tires on. They told me that in order from them to certify the car they needed to put new tires on the car. So, they put the best available tires they had in stock on the car. After a few thousand of miles the car drove really loud, so I took it into the another Honda dealer and they told me the tires on the car were not made for the CRV. They were truck tires, and it would cost 1000 dollars to replace the brand new tires. This was my first time purchasing a car, so I know better now. More
I originally bought my new 2010 Honda Accord Coupe from this dealership back in 2010. I had such a great experience with the employees and management during my buying process. I ONLY took my car to there dealership for any maintenance that I had, there service is by far the best I have experienced and because of this I went to them recently to get my new 2013 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6! Again they showed exceptional customer service and even though there dealership did not have any of the new 2013 Accord Coupes in yet they managed to make a trade with another dealership and had my car for me in less than 2 days!!!! I am forever a McGrath Honda of Elgin customer and wont take my car to any other dealership! These guys are the real deal and they look out for your best interest! Thank you McGrath Honda of Elgin for my new 2013 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6, I LOVE IT!!!! I am a customer for life. J. Schwartz More

Purchased a 2012 Honda Ridgeline and I am satisfied with the way the buying experience went.There was never any pressure to buy and the negotiations went very well. I see several comments here of people having bad experiences. I also have been told by many people outside of Dealerrater that this is 1 of the worst car dealerships in Illinois to do business with. This was my first time at the dealership and I can say I did not experience what is currently being said. My wife and I were greeted promptly and I laid out everything on the line immediately and very clearly specified that this was a one shot deal and I would not tolerate going back and forth with sales managers on pricing (trade in and purchase of new vehicle). I explained that I would be purchasing a vehicle today and if this was not the dealership there were plenty more in the area. I also explained to come back with a bottom line price on my trade and a price for the new vehicle...again specifying only 1 shot and I would leave if it was not a fair price. You need to do your homework before going to any car dealership. There are so many options available on the internet to make sure your getting the right price and a fair price...ie autotrader.com, trucar.com etc. Kelly blue book is a joke and never has been accurate. You also need to understand ALL dealerships have dealer hold backs,incentives for profit. Find out the information before going in. Based on my experience I would recommend this dealership and will do business here again in the future. More

You would think for the purchase of a $35,000 dollar car they could cough up a bottle of water. I did an internet price first that was good but then the $800 destination fee was added. I was meet at the door and told to ask for the internet worker and he would introduce me to the Ridgeline "expert" - turns out he didn't know all the ins and outs of the truck. As I was driving our I saw they had forgotten to take off my plates from my trade in car - another 15 min. When I came back to sign papers my sales person was not there in time so we went in and signed - when we came out the salesperson was chatting with coworkers and just waved goodbye. I will enjoy the free car washes but will never buy a car from here again. More

I had again bad experience with McGrath Elgin. While completing the paper work to buy a car the finance guy asked me to buy the service coupons(Driver Plus Program). I told I do not need it. He explained me that it is cheaper and you get oil service and tire rotation any where. I specifically asked that can I use it any where? he told yes you can use any where, since coupons will come with VIN number and can be accessed anywhere. When I went to nearest Honda showroom they are not accepted. I talked to McGrath Elgin they told that you should use at any McGrath. I surprised with this, They are not honest to customers. I asked couple of times that can I use it any where in Honda Service Center. Since my work is not permanent and I relocate oftenly for my job. I had bad experience in buying a car and buying service warranty. I suggest all customers that stay away from McGrath, Elgin.I ALREADY WROTE MY REVIEW IN LAST YEAR FOR MY CAR BUY. THESE GUYS ARE CHEATERS AND CHEAT VERY QUICKLY. Though I am not a fan of writing reviews, I am writing this because I am one of the guy cheated by MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN, IL. This is the complete story of mine. I planned to buy Honda Pilot and I went to McGrath, Elgin to get the quotation. I met sales person Jerry and sales Manager Chris. He asked me what is the budget. I told that around $31,000 to $32,000. But I asked that I need leather seats. The sales person started explaining LX model with Leather option. I asked about the EX and EX-L models and he told me that they are lot of money and expensive. So he gave me the price more than $35,000 and finally bargained for $34,200 for LX with leather option. He completed this deal very quickly, without giving any time to think or calling my friends or someone. They did paper work so fast and completed it. After doing all this they showed my vehicle. I surprised that there are no floor mats, no leather seats and no roof rack(when I went test drive in another LX model that one is having roof racks too). When I asked about these options, they told me that deal is done.They told me to take the vehicle and I didn't bring to home, because leather accessory is not there. I even didn't sit in the car. I came to home and started enquiring other dealers. I got out the door price for Pilot EX-L with premium running boards starting from $35,050 from other dealers. Then Immediately I went to Mcgrath Honda, Elgin on next day. He is not accepted to get the EX-L for the this price. He asked me 5,900 more dollars to get the EX-L. I went to McGrath Elgin to discuss on this for 2 days and they were insisted to take LX model which I bought first. Me and my wife doesn't get proper sleep for couple of days on this issue. Finally I got EX-L model from them for $39,200 spending 4,150 dollars more comparetivly other dealers. I requested them to give an extra option entertainment center or navigation for this price. They didn't give an option for bargaining the price and other options. The Chris(Sales Manager) doesn't know how to open Cargo door also. He asked me to wait to check on this for one hour. There is no issue in the car. The issue is manager doesn't know how to operate remote keys to open cargo door. They even didn't explained about the options in cabin board. After all of this they asked me to come another day to get running boards on my vehicle. I got schedule to fix my running boards for another day and they took 2 hour 30 minutes to fix this. I wrote this review since I literelly unhappy with MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN. I suggest do not go to this dealer. They are not informative and not customer friendly. They cheat customers very quickly on buying new cars. I contacted Honda Motors Corporate Center on this issue. Honda Motors support sent couple of messages on this issue to McGrath Honda, Elgin. McGrath Honda is not at all called me to discuss on the issue. Honda Motors Customer support told me that they will send message on this issue to General Manager at McGrath Honda, Elgin. But no one contacted to me on this issue. IEVER NEVER SEE THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT LIKE THIS IN USA. I SUGGEST STAY AWAY FROM MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN. More
