In the process of trying to buy a car recently, the initial email negotiation was a lie, the internet price of the vehicle was "a mistake", and the verbal/handshake agreed upon price was changed at the very last minute ($5600 more) as I was about to sign on the dotted line. Pleasant Experiance. Superb Service! My dad and I decided to check out McGrath Honda in Elgin while on was on the hunt for a new car. My parents had purchased the Honda CRV a few month's My dad and I decided to check out McGrath Honda in Elgin while on was on the hunt for a new car. My parents had purchased the Honda CRV a few month's previous. As we approached the door my dad mentions "Oh, I see my guy!" Which turned out to be Anthony Juliano who had sold the CRV to them. Instantly Anthony approached us and to my surprise remembered my fathers name. You could tell he just wasn't any normal car salesman but one who cared about his customers. In the end Anthony won me over a sold me my Honda Civic that I absolutely love! Anthony made the whole process very painless and entertaining. I truly appreciate everyone who help me out that day, they are all amazing. For the people that are skeptical about car salesmen and weather or not they are getting ripped off. Though we will never know what deal we actually got. All I can say is that I think Anthony was able to help me out and get the deal that I needed and I am forever thankful! MCGRATH HONDA ROCKS! More

Tiring experience. It took 5 hours to buy a car there - at least half was just waiting around. Guess I got my fill of the massage chair and HGTV while I was there. Grant It took 5 hours to buy a car there - at least half was just waiting around. Guess I got my fill of the massage chair and HGTV while I was there. Granted, I know these things take time but more than half a work day? Anyway, both the sales and finance guys were friendly to work with however I still had that being conned feeling. Went back and forth withe the general manager on getting the gap warranty included in the price since they weren't going to shave anything off the asking price. Once I get to the finance guy, he was just focused on selling me the extended warranty which I did not want or need. I asked at least 3 times in the process that I wanted to see the TOTAL numbers (just the car vs. car with extended warranty) and he kept playing around with the monthly payment numbers instead. I actually ended up signing a contract with the extended warranty, thinking it would be on a separate contract until I realized it wasn't. Told Bernado I wanted to see total numbers again and that I did not want the extended warranty - his attitude changed immediately. He wasted my time by printing out a copy of some sales bill that belonged to HIM and how he purchased the extended warranty for his son - still a "no." Then he gets new plates out when I had already explained to my sales guy that I wanted to keep my own plates. He gets mad at me that it wasn't communicated and I had to literally say "that's not my problem that he did not communicate that to you, you could've asked me, too." Had to sign papers THREE times before it was finally right. Ended up getting the asking price w/out the gap warranty ("no, you waved that by not getting the McGrath Advantage coverage") as was agreed upon with the general manager - but I was already all argued out by that time. It feels like there's just very bad communication all around on purpose and no one was willing to deal with total numbers which was very irritating since that's all I (and I assume every other customer) really cares about. I guess the car was a good deal in and of itself so I rated my experience as "okay" overall, but like I said, I still did not feel like I could trust anyone to just be straight with me about the numbers which was very frustrating. More

I had done my research and knew exactly what I wanted as far as model, color & trim level before going into the dealer. Went in for a test drive of exact model I wanted. They did not waste my time trying to sell me something else or a different trim level. Sure... they have to offer you the typical add-ons and extended warranty and such after the initial deal is agreed upon but were not at all pushy. This was probably as painless as buying a new car can be. More
