A New Experience at McGrath Honda of Elgin Back in 2012, we bought a new Honda Civic at McGrath Honda in Elgin. It was, without a doubt, the single worst car buying experience I ever had. The s Back in 2012, we bought a new Honda Civic at McGrath Honda in Elgin. It was, without a doubt, the single worst car buying experience I ever had. The salesman that we had to deal with was rude, condescending and ultimately a disgrace to the profession. This person lived up to every negative stereotype about cars salesmen ever made. Flash forward to 2015. My wife and I are interested in purchasing a new Honda vehicle. We live near McGrath Honda. So, our intent was to look at some cars there and then go purchase the vehicle at another Honda dealer. Anthony Juliano made us change our plans. Anthony was, without a doubt, the best car salesman I have ever had to work with. He listened to our needs and always gave us different options. He also took his time with us. Not once did he seem like he was trying to push us off to move on to a different customer. More importantly, he and he alone changed our opinion of McGrath Honda. No longer is it a place we'll avoid. It's a place we'll come back to again and will highly recommend it to others! More

I worked with Anthony Juliano, who was awesome to work with. He listened to my needs and wants and let me test-drive 3 different vehicles that met those needs. He thoroughly reviewed the differences in features and lease details of each. I was able to take my time and consider my choice, and even try out my kids' booster seats to make sure they fit well in the back seat. Everyone I encountered at the dealership was pleasant, friendly and professional. I love my new car, and will be a customer for life. More

People come first at this dealership. Whether or not this is an overt company credo or a tacit guiding principle, it certainly leaves an impression on customers. From when I scheduled an appointment with the sales representative to the moment we drove off in our CRV, we were treated with courtesy, interest, and genuine care, making for a remarkably pleasant and smooth car-buying experience. Our salesman, Anthony Juliano, was not only professional and engaging, but a gentleman through and through. He makes sure you're comfortable, informed, and even well-fed (!). The selections he prepared met our needs and preferences beautifully and the test-drive was just super fun. Thanks to his attention to detail and personable approach, we drove home happy, relieved, and reassured in a car that was immaculately prepped and that feels as if it were made just for us. McGrath also offers uniquely attractive benefits and protections and the facilities themselves are impressive. will not be a repeat I needed a new car to go with my new job. Ken the salesman was very nice when I first went in. I did however tell them I had financing through my cred I needed a new car to go with my new job. Ken the salesman was very nice when I first went in. I did however tell them I had financing through my credit union but they still wanted to run a credit check. The whole negotiation process was not fun but it never is. There were some scratches and a dent on the car that the dealership agreed to fix in order for me to purchase. When I took my vehicle in to get it repaired, they said two days. They kept my car 5 days and never called to tell me they would keep it longer or update me on the progress. When I went to pick up my car they did a great job on the dent however the did not fix the scratch. The service guy told me I'm just doing what I was told. You have to talk to your sales guy. These gentlemen could really use some customer service skills. I told them let's get my sales guy out here then. After about 10min he came. I showed him the car and he says I was being unreasonable! Really? Now I'm really posed because I am spending my hard earned money on this car and the dealership wrote out a we owe for the work to be done. I held my end of the bargain but they were fighting me on mine. Eventually he went to get a manager and the guy looks at my paper and says we said we'll fix it so we will. I'm sorry you had to deal with this. He was great and I'm so sorry I did not get his name because he really needs the praise here. He also needs to train thise other guys how to treat and talk to people. After one more week I finally got my car back and it looked beautiful. The new service guy actually called me every 2 days to update me. So they were trying to right the wrong but the way I was treated the first time I will not forget and I have told many people do not go there. More
If I could give McGrath Honda negative stars, I would!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! DON'T GO TO MCGRATH HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORST DEALERSHIP EVER!!!!! I was in the market to purchase a Honda Pilot because I needed BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! DON'T GO TO MCGRATH HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORST DEALERSHIP EVER!!!!! I was in the market to purchase a Honda Pilot because I needed a bigger car for our family. We went into the McGrath Honda showroom in Elgin and started looking at the 2015 Honda Pilot they had on the showroom floor. After about 15 minutes, nobody offered to help us so we went to the front desk and asked for a salesman. We waited another 15 minutes and still nobody came up to us so we decided to leave. A few days later I found a used Honda Pilot online at McGrath Honda so I emailed the dealership to see what the price was and schedule a test drive. When I went into the dealer the next day, they could not find the car I came in for but they said they had the same car in stock but with less miles and a lower price so I said ok I'll test drive that one. Well, wouldn't you know it, they couldn't find that car either. I was told multiple stories by different people where the cars were. The last story they told me was that they would have both cars back by the end of the week from the detail shop so I said ok call me when they are here so I can test drive them. When I went in and test drove one of the Pilots almost a week later (because the other one was still nowhere to be found), I decided I liked it and wanted to talk numbers with them. They didn't want to budge on the price of the Pilot and they wanted to give me almost $8000 less than I owed on my trade in. After finding out my car payment on a used car was going to be almost $750/month, I decided to leave. After 2 weeks my situation changed because I ended up selling my car so I would not be upside down. I again talked number with them because the price of the Pilot had dropped over those 2 weeks. I went in there and told them a certain payment I needed to be at and they told me they needed to run my credit because they were doing all this work and they didn't think I was even serious about buying a car. That was very unprofessional of them to say. Why would I be going into a dealership multiple times over a few weeks without any intention of buying a car?? They also told me they needed to check the available balances on my credit cards that I was using as a down payment. They proceeded to run my credit multiple times which I found out later from my credit report after they had assured me they were just running it once through Honda financing to make sure I qualified for the 1.9% financing. Next thing I know, the manager came back and said both your credit cards went through for the down payment and told me to sign the 2 credit card slips. They had charged my credit cards $8000 and we had not even agreed on the price of the car or the monthly payments. I was in complete shock and asked why they would run my credit cards when I haven't agreed to purchase the car yet? They had no answer for me. All they said was well do you want the car or not and I told them at this point NO I don't want it and I want my cards refunded because I didn't authorize anyone to run them. The manager told me I had to sign the 2 charge slips in order for him to process a refund and I refused. He argued with me until I stopped talking and called my credit card companies in front of him to report the unauthorized charges. He quickly said ok come with me to the cashier and I will just refund it. I went to Motorwerks Honda in Barrington a couple of weeks later and bought a brand new 2015 Honda Pilot for less than McGrath was trying to sell me a used one for. Plus Motorwerks was a lot nicer and more professional. To sum up...I would NEVER work with Aldo (the salesman at McGrath) or anyone else from McGrath Honda again!!! I am much happier now that I went to Motorwerks and I recommend anyone shopping for a Honda to do the same. More
