February 2021While I was visiting a friend in Fort February 2021 While I was visiting a friend in Fort Myers, Fl on my return to Largo, Fl my warning lights came on my 2011 Tahoe. I quickly exited at February 2021 While I was visiting a friend in Fort Myers, Fl on my return to Largo, Fl my warning lights came on my 2011 Tahoe. I quickly exited at the next available exit, pulled over and got on my cell phone. I found the number for Maher Chevrolet which was 2 miles away. I explained to the service tech Becky what my problem was and she advised me it was okay to drive over. I drove into the service driveway where Becky came to my car almost immediately. After I rolled my window down, I immediately smelled gasoline and so did she. We went over the possible service problem(s) and arranged to leave my car to check out the problem. The soonest they could get to was Monday, this was Thursday! I did not get a diagnosis until Tuesday. The conclusion was over $2200 in repair, I would include new gas tank for approx $900, a module kit, PLUS further diagnostics. Further diagnostics would mean more money for sure. I called back home to Wisconsin and after a lot of back and forth it was decided I should have the truck shipped back to my Chevy dealer for repairs and fly back home. After my dealer diagnosed my truck they advised it did not need a new gas tank, but it did need a new module, coil, fuel lines and sensor kit. There price was $1100. Why did Maher say I needed a new gas tank? The fuel tank is Plastic! How could I trust Maher to diagnose and repair my truck when they wanted to charge me for unnecessary parts and NOT advise you of necessary parts like the fuel lines? Maher charged me over $500 for their diagnosis, which was only partially correct. I understand they did put some time in but $500! Really! I am a senior citizen who feels she was being taken advantage of because of her age of 70 years young, lack of knowledge of cars and stranded over a thousand miles from home. SHAME ON YOU MAHER CHEVROLET. More
