I received an offer in my email for a complimentary multi-point inspection and figured, what the xxxx I also needed an oil change, so I set up a time and day to drop the car off. Upon arrival, I was g multi-point inspection and figured, what the xxxx I also needed an oil change, so I set up a time and day to drop the car off. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a service member who ran a check on my vehicle (2016 BMW 328i with 46,000 Miles). He returned with several options for services that he recommended be completed ranging from 1,100 - 2,500. All the recommended services were fluid flush-based: brake fluid flush, coolant flush, rear differential exchange, transmission fluid exchange, oil change, and fuel injection cleaning (xx). After calling another dealership and discussing this on a forum, everyone was agreed that most of this was not necessary based on mileage, and no one knew what 'fuel injection cleaning' was. So I looked it up, and they use a product made by BG. They claim it will scrub the valves from carbon buildup so I asked him to scope the valves first since this was a pricy procedure, and he said it would be cost-prohibitive and that he was 100% certain it needed it. During the inspection, they also discovered that the vacuum pump had a minor leak. They recommended replacing it, which was ok with me, so I asked the agent if the expensive insurance I purchased with the vehicle covered it. It took over a week to get an answer, but they executed the replacement once it was approved—the only silver lining in my experience. While all this was happening, I took a day to consider the recommended flushing services. I settled on the Oil Change I pre-paid for when I purchased the vehicle, and a brake flush, which would be completed once we knew if the vacuum pump replacement would be covered. A week passed, and I was getting frustrated, so I reached out and told them I would like to pick the vehicle up but to flush the brakes and change the oil, and once they concluded whether the Vacuum Pump was covered or not, I would bring the car back to have the work completed. Well, wouldn't you know it, they would have an answer after the weekend. Monday, I get word that the vacuum pump was covered, so the vehicle was finally getting serviced, but there was a hiccup a seal was missing, so it would take another day. Tuesday, I reach out and tell the service tech that I am with my family member a few miles away at a hospital for outpatient surgery and ask if they could bring the vehicle there once the work was completed. They said sure - so happy with this, but noon passes and I am out to lunch, so I reach out and ask if the car is done and that I could swing by and grab it since I was out and about. The service tech tells me it's completed and getting washed. So I am happy until I arrive and see the car when they brought it out filthy, which I could have let slide, but after everything else that transpired from pushy unnecessary upsells to lengthy approvals and finally a filthy car, I decided to take my future service needs elsewhere when they are needed or recommended by BMW service manual. These sorts of pressure tactics deployed to increase revenue for unnecessary services are deceitful practices. I am sure many of the wealthy people who live around this dealership are prey to these practices and don't question them because they think they are getting an honest take on what's needed for their vehicles. I hope my pain helps someone in the future. More
