Lied to and cheated TL;DR THE MAILMAN DID NOT DELIVER. Don't buy used cars from Karl Malone Toyota and definitely don't buy from Mike MacDonald. They'll just rip you off. I purchased a 2002 Saturn L300. It ran great and had no leaks when I test drove it (On Jan. 31). I signed for it and came to pick it up on February 2nd. When I picked it up on the 2nd, it left a huge puddle of transmission fluid on their showroom floor. This is a problem that obviously wasn't there when I test drove it, but a problem that had occurred while the vehicle was being cared for by Karl Malone Toyota. I took the car to several shops. Two Jiffy Lubes said the problem was the worst transmission fluid leak they've ever seen. I took it to a trusted mechanic where they told me the front seal was blown, a problem that costs at the least $1200. I set up an appointment with Karl Malone Toyota to see what they would do to fix the problem. My salesman that I had worked with, Mike MacDonald, was cold and unsympathetic. He was glad he got his commission and didn't care about me. His sales manager JD Larson, thought I was an idiot and tried to deceive me by saying the same thing over and over in different words. Ultimately, they offered no help and showed no concern about the catastrophic problem the car gained in their possession. Karl Malone Toyota does not care about the customers. Karl Malone Toyota will lie and cheat their way to a sale. Karl Malone Toyota does not deserve any of your business. Please, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. It will probably save you a couple thousand dollars. More
I WILL NEVER BUY FROM Karl Malone Toyota in Draper, Utah AGA I was sent a letter saying they wanted to buy my 2013 Toyota Sienna from me for $30,000 and 0% APR for 60 months. So out of curiosity of the deal we I was sent a letter saying they wanted to buy my 2013 Toyota Sienna from me for $30,000 and 0% APR for 60 months. So out of curiosity of the deal we went to see Karl Malone Toyota. Britain, a fast talking salesman said he would be happy to help. They did not have the 2015 Sienna on the lot at the time. I said I would wait. That I do not want to buy a van I have never even driven. Ti the finance officer said if I did not like the van that they would null the contract, that it was “no problem”. They found one said it would be there in 4 days. Again I asked if I did not like the van would we be able to leave the deal. Again they said yes. Another gentleman that helped us I asked about the “no problem” getting out of the contract that Ti had said. His comment “he’s an honest man he will honor what he says.” OH YEAH RIGHT. The “papers” we signed was a little signature pad attached to a computer. So I did not get to see the papers until AFTER we had signed. On returning home I find out, NO they did not buy my van for $30,000 they decided to only give me $22,000. Their 0% APR turned out to be 3.99%. We called them up, we went up, Oh the person we needed to talk to wasn’t there, we went up the second day, Oh the it’s Ti’s day off; on the third try, Oh the van is finally there. (not on the day it was supposed to arrive. But 4 days later, and OH NO WE DID NOT MAKE ANY KIND OF PROMISE THAT YOU COULD GET OUT OF THE CONTRACT. I SAID NO SUCH THING. We hadn’t driven the car off the lot, yet we didn’t want the van. But can we get out of the contract. NO WAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE NOT TO GET SCREWED OVER BY THIS PLACE. BUY ANYWHERE BUT HERE. AND PLEASE SHARE THIS FOR MY SANITY’S SAKE. More

Being in sales myself, I very much appreciate dealing with fellow salespeople who are professional and understand the position they are in to help people. Our overall experience was wonderful. My wife, ironically enough is not a huge fan of "salesman" and was very stressed at the idea of having to buy a car. Many salespeople are what I can the "one night stand" salesperson, who simply wants to make a sale under any circumstances and never see you again. Let me just say that Mike was the complete opposite of this. He was a genuinely nice guy and made the buying experience a delight. Most people love to make an educated purchase, but hate being sold. Throughout the entire experience from the initial test drive to handing us the keys, Mike made the experience fun. I realize that no company is perfect and that if you take into account human error, you can be generally quite pleased dealing with any company. With that said, I feel things went as smoothly as possible and we would definitely come back to work with Mike and this dealership as well. Alex Hammond was another employee we dealt with in financing and was very pleased with his work. As was Mike, Alex had a very welcoming and fun personality. More

Don't Buy a Used Car From This Dealer! I recently purchased a used Honda Odyssey from here thinking I was getting a fair deal but I was sadly mistaken after I got the vehicle home and doubl I recently purchased a used Honda Odyssey from here thinking I was getting a fair deal but I was sadly mistaken after I got the vehicle home and double checked the numbers. WARNING: they like to play numbers games and talk about monthly payments instead of being straight forward about the actual sales price or what they are giving you for a trade in. I found out later that I was charged $1500 over the NADA full retail price and about $1800 over the Kelley Blue Book suggested price. I also realized that there were many issues with the vehicle that I didn't notice during the test drive. I thought buying a newer vehicle from a large dealer would yield a high quality car but instead I got one that should've been auctioned off to some other poor sucker. I would never recommend buying anything from these guys unless you demand seeing the final numbers in writing before agreeing to anything and being whisked away to the financier. More

We didn't buy because we're expecting a new baby in one week and we're uncertain of how finances are going to be until the baby is born. When we buy a car, (which we need desperately) we will be going right back to Michael. More

We went in to discuss options it did not go so well at first but then we received a call from a woman named Tammy she arranged for the SUV to be fixed. Karl Malone Toyota split the cost with us and the mechanic was awesome. Tammy was wonderful to work with they even gave us a rental car till the SUV was fixed. Tammy went above and beyond to help us in a really bad situation. we will be forever customers. It is so comforting to know we will always be taken care of when buying a car or truck through Karl Malone Toyota :) Thanks Tammy!!! More

I was excited as this was the exact truck I was looking to purchase. About two weeks later I got the new car itch once again I decided to trade in my wife's truck and buy another one from them. They were pretty decent to work with on this deal as well. Well now to the bad part of the story. About a week ago I get a call from the salesman that special ordered my Tacoma. He said that he had bad news, Toyota wouldn't allocate the truck that he had supposedly special ordered 2 months ago, this after I had maintained constant email and phone contact and was assured that everything was in order. He told me that he was being sent a different color and that it would be approximately $350 more. He sent me the spec sheet and everything was the same except the color. When I confronted him about the change and cost increase he said, "don't I deserve $350 for my time?". So I had special ordered a vehicle, waited 2 months, and now the deal had changed because he wanted $350 more. In addition he told me that Toyota had increased the price of the truck, which is a complete lie. I know that Karl Malone is a legend here in Utah but let's be serious, his dealership is horrible. Anyone that would play games with their customers in such a fashion doesn't deserve their business. There are other dealerships here in Utah that will give you the same or better prices than Karl Malone Toyota but without the headaches. More

I got better service at the fast food restaurant down the street than I did at this place. People not giving me proper information. Being extremely short with me as if I was an inconvenience to them. Being spoken to by someone with a mouth full of food. Overall I fully regret choosing to come to this location to purchase my vehicle. The staff was completely rude and offered zero help, it was as if I had to tackle a challenge on my own and their main objective was to make every step more difficult for me. I will not return to this place again and will be sure as a customer service professional myself to let others know it's not worth their time and definitely not their money to step foot in this building. I fully regret coming here. More
