Chris Whitehurst came up to us like a long lost friend and hit it off with him right away. I would recommend him over any salesman . Finance manager was, almost as friendly as Chris. Both were very helpful and hope for Jeff Gordon to them employed for many more years. They are a great asset to your company. My son and wide bought a car from dealer probably 2-3 years ago and had nothing but positive things to say about their experience also. Steve and Kathy Nicholson, Bladenboro, n.c. More

They were both incredibly pat Allen and Widolph tag-teamed helping us as my husband made SEVERAL visits over a few months looking for the right truck. They were both incredibly patient and friendly to him even knowing today wasn't the day he was getting a truck. When the day actually came, Allen and Widolph were genuinely excited for us and celebrated with us like we were family. I could not imagine EVER buying a car from anyone else. Finding this truck was such a long and exhausting process that it was awesome to have a knowledgeable and honest team there to help us along the way. Stop in and check them out! More
Review of Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington, NC EDIT: As of August 14th, 2017, I have updated this review from 3/5 to 5/5 to reflect a 5 star experience. Bob Dolan reached out to me and has gone out EDIT: As of August 14th, 2017, I have updated this review from 3/5 to 5/5 to reflect a 5 star experience. Bob Dolan reached out to me and has gone out of his way to solve my issue, which I appreciate greatly. I visited Jeff Gordon Chevrolet for the first time on July 17th, 2017. I went to check out a Chevy Colorado I had seen listed in the inventory online. Upon my arrival, I scouted out the truck I was looking for (2017 Graphite Metallic Z71) and was greeted by a sales person named Mac Lyerly. I asked to take a test drive and after copying my ID, we were on our way. Mac was professional, honest, and straight forward. After the test drive was over, I told him I wanted to do a bit more research before making any decisions, to which he was very amicable and provided me with a business card should I decide to come back. I went home and researched a bit more, and felt pretty good about leasing the truck. The only feature it lacked that I wanted was the sport bar & off-road lights, which I could add online when building a truck through Chevy’s main corporate website. I assumed that since this was a bonus feature that could be added online, there wasn’t any reason that the dealership couldn’t order the parts and install them if I decided to purchase the truck. That night, I also received a phone call from Jeff Gordon Team Leader Scott Coonradt as a follow up to my test drive, and explaining that if I had any questions to please reach out to him. The next day (July 18th) I went back to the dealership with the number I had decided upon that would close the deal for me, and after finding out that it was Mac’s day off, asked to speak with Scott. I explained that I was very interested in the truck, but that I wanted to have the sport bar and lights installed as a part of the purchase. Scott sat down with me at a computer for a few minutes and pulled up the Chevy website and clicked through options trying to find the bar and lights I was referring to. After a few more minutes, he called over another sales associate named McRae Grady and asked him to take me to the parts department, explaining that he had another new sales associate that he needed to assist (although it was easy to tell that he was getting frustrated with finding the parts and elected to push me off to a subordinate) Regardless, McRae was very friendly and took me to see Mr. Robbie Hall in parts, who helped the both of us track down parts, provide an estimate for labor, and total cost to come up with a deal. I told McRae that with a commitment to order and install the parts that I was interested in proceeding with leasing the truck that day, and after typical back and forth we were able to reach a number that suited us both. One thing that raised questions, however, was a statement from McRae saying that the total monthly payment included tax, title, and dealership fees. I am no stranger to buying and selling cars, and thought this was interesting as McRae had alluded to the fact that property taxes were also included in the payment. I pressed the issue, as it was something I had never heard of in my prior car buying experiences, and asked McRae how the financing company (the one responsible for my loan on the lease) would know that I had gotten the truck inspected each year and thus when to pay the property taxes. He said something along the lines of “The leasing company holds the title so the bills are sent directly to them”. His reply didn’t exactly answer my question, so I again asked to clarify that the lease payment included all taxes and fees including property taxes, to which he replied yes. I made the mistake of not getting this statement on paper, which I will explain later. Overall, McRae was excellent, helpful, and very friendly. After the papers were signed, the deal was closed, and title work was completed (the man helping with the title work was fantastic, too, I just don’t have his name) I scheduled a date with the service department to return and have the sport bar and lights installed later that week, and the deal was done. I came back later in the week and was introduced to my service advisor Kevin Vinson, and also spoke to the service department manager Jimmy Romano, both of whom were excellent and very helpful. I dropped the truck off at 9:30 am that Friday (July 21st), was told it would be ready and detailed by closing that day, and given a nice loaner car to drive in the meantime. Around 4pm that day, Kevin reached out to me via phone and explained that the labor estimates to install the bar were off, and that to complete the install properly the technicians would have to build a custom wiring harness for the lights and weld it to my engine compartment, pushing the delivery date to the following Monday. Not a problem, as I understand things happen and this was obviously the first time they had dealt with this type of install. Kevin provided me with his personal phone number if I had any questions or concerns, and asked if they could fill up the gas in the loaner car to get me through the weekend. The following Monday I got my truck back as promised, all parts installed perfectly and looking good. The service department was fantastic and I’m happy that I elected to get a service package with the truck. Problems began to arise the following week, when I received a bill in the mail from the DMV requesting payment for taxes on my new license plate (totaling ~$400) which had just arrived at the dealership. I wasn’t exactly surprised, as I figured McRae was misinformed when he had told me that taxes were included in the payment, but hoped that the dealership would back their word and solve this issue. I went in later that day to get my new plate along with the bill from the DMV and requested to speak to McRae, who was off for the day. Instead, the receptionist called for a manager, and Scott Coonradt (the same Team Leader mentioned from my previous visit) came out, and I explained my situation. He looked at me with disbelief, for which I don’t blame him. I’m sure that out of customer issues, 95% lay in misunderstandings that the customer is unwilling to accept. This was not one of those cases. I explained that I had specifically pressed the matter with McRae to receive clarification, and that hopefully he would back me up on that. Scott asked if I had it in writing (my biggest mistake) and I replied no. He replied that property taxes are unavoidable and a part of a car purchase, to which I am very familiar… again, purchasing and selling cars numerous times over the past few years. I explained again that I understood it sounded strange and at the time it was strange to me, too, hence my pressing of the issue with McRae. Scott then said “Well, let me ask you… if it hadn’t been included in the purchase, would you have walked on the sale?” to which I replied “Yes”. Scott stood there for a moment, then bluntly asked “Why?”. I was infuriated. At this point it wasn’t about the miscommunication, or anything like that, but that the “Leader” of the team was rude and unprofessional. I elected to hold my tongue, and simply replied “Because there was a number that I had my mind set around, that I had budgeted for. $400 in taxes/year is approximately $30/month on top of the original payment amount, which I was told was included in the payment”. Scott didn’t have any sort of real reply other than saying I could come in when McRae was there so that if necessary they could “hold someone responsible”. I wasn’t there to get anyone in trouble, as McRae had done his job well, he was just misinformed. I left angry, and debating what I should do to respond to Scott’s smug attitude. If $400 (technically close to $1200 if you factor a 3 year lease along with declination in tax valuation) wasn’t a big deal and he didn’t understand why, then how about he write me a check for $400 of his own money? Needless to say, I was not happy with Scott’s service at all, not forgetting that he had previously shoved me off on another associate when I was attempting to work out the deal to lease the truck in the first place. Overall, my experience at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington, NC was surperb. The service department was great, the sales reps were great, and the titling department was also great. The single sour factor was Team Leader Scott Coonradt, with his impatience and inability to help a potential customer, his unwillingness to alleviate or further research an issue with a new customer, and most of all, his attitude. Brushing aside the tax issues and misinformation, this potentially 5-star review has been downgraded to a 3/5 stars. I encourage you to use Jeff Gordon for your car buying needs, although I highly suggest you get EVERYTHING written on paper, and that you avoid Scott. More
