It is an absolute nightmare working with Jake Sweeney Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram in Tri-County and, truthfully, at this point feel as though we are being extorted. I suppose, the best way to convey the i Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram in Tri-County and, truthfully, at this point feel as though we are being extorted. I suppose, the best way to convey the issue is to start at the beginning, in chronological order. Around Thanksgiving 2020, my wife was in a minor not-at-fault collision in her 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee in West Chester (was stopped at a 4-way stop sign, she would be 3rd to go, cars #1 and #2 couldn't figure it out, ran into each other, then into her). There was damage to the front end, and we had it towed to Jake Sweeney JCDR. Nearly 3 months later we picked it up completed (with some back and forth in the meantime), or so we thought. Within 4 days of receiving the vehicle from Jake Sweeney, after picking my kids up from school and with them in the car, the Jeep suddenly went into 'limp mode' in I-75 (stays in low gear, does not accelerate past 40 mph). Immediately, we brought it back to Sweeney, they determined it to be a cam sensor (which is located within the area that was repaired post-collision). They wouldn't accept any responsibility for overlooking the issue initially, and we paid them roughly $300 for that repair. Approximately 4 months later (late July 2021), the car went into limp mode again, luckily in not as precarious of a spot as the 1st time. My wife pulled over, shut the car down, started it, and everything seemed fine - dashboard lights went off, car drove as normal, so we thought it was a fluke. To paint the complete picture, there are a few nuisances with this Jeep that have been persistent: 1) At most gas stations at the pump, when filling up, there would be minor 'blowback' of fumes, which causes the pump to auto shut-off (as though the tank is full). The workaround is to not fill up at full speed and hold the pump handle while doing it. Not a huge deal, we lived with it, it was occurring since we bought the car 'certified preowned'. 2) The front parking sensor would constantly act as though something was in front of it and signal a loud warning. We just turned Park Sense off and did not use that feature. That sensor is located on the front bumper, the entirety of which was repaired after the collision, we did not have this issue before the collision, so certainly a case can be made that, again, there was some oversight on Jake Sweeney's part. But we simply did not address it because working with them has been tedious at the least and this issue was just a minor inconvenience. What made us take it to Jake Sweeney this time was a new issue that I started noticing. When downshifting into the 4th, the car would noticeably jerk. Transmission issues can lead to serious consequences, so we scheduled an appointment for 8/27. We were limited to official Jeep service centers, since that is who honors the extended drive-train warranty, which we have. When we dropped off the Jeep to Sweeney on the 27th, we asked them to look into all of the issues mentioned above, quote repair costs, and at that point we would decide whether to only address the necessary items or fix the inconveniences as well. To summarize, they were to inspect and quote the following: Transmission – odd downshift into 4th gear Whatever caused it to go ‘limp’ again Fuel filler blowback issue Front parking sensor malfunction. Approximately 7 working days later, they came back to us with the following: - Parking sensor needs replacement (optional) - Fuel blow-back issue – gas filler neck needs replaced (optional) - The reason it went ‘limp’ again – cam sensor wiring harness, which is directly connected to the cam sensor itself, the part which was replaced in March, harness needs replaced (mandatory) - They are attempting to narrow down the transmission issue, it could possibly be the valve body, but they cannot be too sure because… the fuel pump died and the car is no longer drivable. So now, instead of one repair that would have cost us $183 and the other which would be covered by warranty, we are faced with $1650 in repairs. Of course, we took issue with the fact that the fuel pump was functional when we brought it to Sweeney, that the car became non-drivable while in their possession, and they agreed to come down to $1000 for all non-covered repairs (still more than 5X what we anticipated to spend). Being a family with 3 children and both of us working, begrudgingly we agreed, as we desperately need the vehicle for day-to-day. Following day we receive a text from our advisor at JS informing us that the OEM fuel pump is on back order and they do not know when they will be able to receive it. There are no loaners to be provided, and the options are: a good quality aftermarket fuel pump for $900 more, or another OEM fuel pump (just different part number for some reason) for additional $300, on top of the $1000 that they, themselves, agreed to. At this point, we just do not know what to do. The car is not drivable, we both need to get to- and from work, take kids to school, etc. Jake Sweeney’s stance is – “feel free to tow it out of here if you aren’t happy with our terms”. They’re aware of the fact that we do not have any options and are taking full advantage of it. More
We are having the worst customer service at Jake Sweeney and are blatantly being taken advantage of. My car has been back three times since it was repaired after an accident. Each time I have brought it i and are blatantly being taken advantage of. My car has been back three times since it was repaired after an accident. Each time I have brought it in for the same or similar issues and somehow whatever part was fixed the time before has caused the connecting part to be broken. Then three weeks ago I brought it back in for a cam sensor issue and while in their possession the fuel pump broke and we were told to pay $1000 to fix that before what we brought it in for could be dealt with. And then a few days later the price increased to $1900 because the part is on back order. ALL of this is WRONG and we are not getting any reasonable or logical explanation from anyone at this dealership. More
Bought a new 2019 Gran Cherokee in April of 2020. 2 months later we started having problems with the multimedia console and took it in for warranty repair. They said they would order the part and call months later we started having problems with the multimedia console and took it in for warranty repair. They said they would order the part and call us when to come in for replacement. 2 months later and no word. we finally called and found out the part was never ordered. Waited another 3 weeks and no word. Finally we called and raised xxxx about the prolonged warranty repair to anybody that would answer the phone at Jake Sweeney. After 1 week wait and them having the car for another week, We finally got the car back with a fixed console but it wasn't even fully configured to work. Had to call Jeep national customer service have them talk us through it over the phone. Currently we have another warranty issue with the auto-start system that shuts the engine down when you idle for a prolonged amount of time. They have had the vehicle for a week and haven't even looked at it. This has caused us to cancel a road trip and reservations twice now. I have had 2 warranty repair issues in less than 2 years of owning the vehicle. I have owned 8 or 9 nine new vehicles (mostly chevys) and never had any repairs, under warranty, for those 8 or 9 cars. I suspect the service people have had to face these type of warranty repair issues on Jeeps so often they have become jaded and just don't care anymore or service management realizes that this frequency of warranty repairs is losing them money and they have directed the shop to make them the last priority. If I would have found this site before and saw all these complaints, I would have stayed away form anything named Jake Sweeney and any car branded Jeep. Very apathetic people. More
Absolutely horrible customer service! Or should I say no customer service! Purchase went good. Got good money for our trade ins and overall felt we did good! The problem was after. We traded in my w customer service! Purchase went good. Got good money for our trade ins and overall felt we did good! The problem was after. We traded in my wife's car and my truck for one truck. We got well over the amount we owed for each car on trade in, so it was their responsibility to pay them both off. They left a $22 balance on my wife's car and it didn't pay off. Ended up getting a $45 late fee charged to it and I had to pay the $67 to pay it off after I discovered it wasn't paid off 3 weeks later. I called them to take care of the balance on 4 seperate occasions and was told they would but they never did. I also left voicemails with 2 different supervisors about the situation and never got a call back. I not only ended up having to pay for it but it also put a negative ding on my credit report for a late payment. And my credit isn't bad! I would be careful about buying a car here as they only care about making the sale and moving on. You are definitely nothing but another number under their belt. More
I requested a price for a vehicle through TrueCar from this dealership on Thursday, May 27th. The price I received was in line with those I received from other dealerships and was stated to be good until this dealership on Thursday, May 27th. The price I received was in line with those I received from other dealerships and was stated to be good until June 1st. I was contacted by Kenneth Haro regarding this vehicle. We spoke on Thursday and then again on Friday. I agreed to provide a deposit for him to hold the vehicle until I could come see it on Saturday morning. Ken was nice enough to go in on his day off to take care of this for me. After making the 5 hour drive to see the vehicle Saturday morning, I took it for a test drive, and then sat down with Ken to discuss the deal. When reviewing the paperwork, I noticed that the sales price was not what I received from them on Thursday. When I questioned it, Ken went to talk to his sales manager. When he came back, they had made only a slight adjustment to the price, but it was still significantly higher than the price they had previously given me. After a couple more trips to speak with the sales manager, Ken said there was nothing more he could do and I would need to speak with the sales manager directly. A little while later, the sales manager came over and sat down. He rudely stated they would not honor the price I had received. I asked him why, and all he had to say is "things change." I pointed out that the price I was given was supposed to be good until June 1st. He again just refused to meet the price without any further justification. I was finally fed up and left without the vehicle. I know the reason why they wouldn't sale me the vehicle for the quoted price was because the vehicle was hard to find and they knew they had several other people interested in it and that they could get more money from them. I ended up wasting more than 12 hours of my day, with 10 of those being driving. Despite the fact that Ken was very kind and seemed genuinely upset about the situation, I will NEVER do business with any Jake Sweeney dealership in the future and would urge anyone thinking of doing so to use caution and be aware that this dealership is dishonest and can't be trusted. One additional note, they also refused to offer what my trade-in was worth, despite me having offers in hand from other dealerships. More
Possibly , no definitely, the worst customer service I have ever encountered from a car dealership. I would recommend taking the time to find another place to buy a car ... as an FYI this has nothing to d have ever encountered from a car dealership.
