Staten Island Honda has met my needs providing a good lease deal with professional and excellent personal service. They always provide me with great service. lease deal with professional and excellent personal service. They always provide me with great service. More
On March 26th, I took my 2017 Honda Civic in to be repaired under the extended warranty for AC condenser leaks (TSB 19-091) and compressor shaft seal leaks (TSB 23-039). These defects caused my civic repaired under the extended warranty for AC condenser leaks (TSB 19-091) and compressor shaft seal leaks (TSB 23-039). These defects caused my civic to stop blowing cold air due to leaks in the condenser or compressor. I was told Staten Island Honda could not honor the warranty cause I put the wrong freon in. The last time the AC system was touched was from Staten Island Honda when it was previously fixed under the same recall a few years previously. I NEVER had the AC touched anywhere besides Staten Island Honda. Turns out the wrong Freon is a common issue with the 2017 Honda Civic’s as per a Class Action Lawsuit- not something unique to my car, even though I was falsely accused of voiding the warranty. My car was at Staten Island Honda for two weeks while we were waiting to hear from Honda Corporate if the repairs would be covered under warranty. Finally, I picked up car up so I could use it while we were waiting. I was contacted by SI Honda said the repair would be covered under the recall (this issue is clear no reason it should’ve taken 3 weeks to be covered) and to bring the Civic back on April 22nd. Shortly after dropping the car off I am contacted and told there is now a different issue with the compressor. SI Honda had my car for two weeks- and it underwent a AC diagnostic on day 1. Why are new issues now popping up? This should’ve been caught on the initial AC diagnostic that was run- while my car was sitting in the shop for two weeks. I was told I’d have to pay out of pocket and the cost would be significant. This new issue with the compressor was caused as a result of the issues with the recall and should also be covered under the warranty. I contacted Staten Island Honda and was told a part had to be ordered and it would take some time, leading me to believe it would be covered. My car has been in the shop for over three weeks total with no end in sight. This issue is straightforward. I asked if I could pickup my car while we were waiting for the part- and I was told no cause it was disassembled, just waiting for the part. On 4/29, I observed my car sitting in front of the shop- not being worked on and not taken apart. I was lied to. I could’ve been using the car while we wait for the part. This is no way to treat a loyal customer that’s been going here for service since 2008 with various Honda’s. There is no sense of urgency leaving me and my family without a car, and up in the air for over a month. It’s clear Honda doesn’t want to honor the recall/warranty. More
