Takes advantage of out of state women on vacation! Honda of Oakland is the most Fraudulent Service center I have ever encountered. They take advantage of out of state travelers, especially women!!! Honda of Oakland is the most Fraudulent Service center I have ever encountered. They take advantage of out of state travelers, especially women!!! We are from Texas and have a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The check engine light came on and started making moaning sounds while we were on a recent road-trip. Took the car into Honda of Oakland for answers. After 2.5 hours of waiting, the Service rep (Mike) came out to tell me that the transmission was fried. He told me that "the transmission fluid was burned and he could smell the burning transmission fluid as I drove into the shop." On top of that the power steering pump had a leak as well as a leak in the power steering line. When I asked if they could replace the transmission fluid just so we could limp home, he stated "I wouldn't put my family back in that car!" He said they wouldn't drain the fluid as that could potentially cause additional problems. Our only option was to replace the transmission. (or, unstated, buy a new car) Faced with the decision to plug $6,000 into a 2007 car or buy a new car, we decided to think about it for a bit. Back at the hotel, I jumped onto Yelp to find an auto repair shop that might squeeze us in to give us a second opinion and found Johnee's Auto Repair with excellent Yelp reviews, including one from another cheated Honda of Oakland customer. Johnee couldn't get the check engine codes to download so he researched the codes provided by the Honda Service center in their database. The first thing it stated was to drain the transmission fluid and look for metal shavings. ((But wait...Honda said that they wouldn't do that, but their own Check Engine Database says that is the first thing to do. Hmmm)) If there were metal shavings, then the transmission would have to be replaced, if not, simply replace the transmission fluid. Guess what.... there weren't any shavings!!! Now, how would Honda of Oakland Service center know that my transmission was fried since they weren't willing to drain the transmission fluid. Mike was very friendly and I thought that he was genuinely concerned. I don't know if he was duped by the Service Department as well, or if he was making it up as we talked. The printed report he handed me didn't have descriptions of the check engine codes, and he kept referring to a hand written report that I couldn't read. The entire problem was solved with only $200 paid to Johnee on top of the $150 paid to Honda of Oakland, as opposed to the $6000 that Honda of Oakland quoted, and the car drives great and we made it back to Texas without any problems. Tires deflating, stereo not working, plastic falling off, headlights malfunction. Basically, the car is undriveable. Also, I got three calls post contract of people calling me and asking for more money, They said that they messed up the paperwork, just seems like another scam from these people. I spoke with many, many people and got many, many promises. None fulfilled, I'm stuck with a $18K lemon and have only my warning to pass along. More

Upon realizing that our insurance company would provide the same service for a cheaper price, we contacted Honda and were told that they would decrease the extend of our warranty and match the price of the insurance company. However, 5 months have passed and we can't get the warranty decreased! All our communication has been ignored! My husband was treated with disrespect upon our face to face contact. All our e-mail inquiries have been ignored! I have never been so humiliated! Honda Oakland sales team is nice at first, but the finance people kill all that! More

This was our 2nd purchase from this dealership after 5 years. We were able to have the same excellent salesman. We returned because we were very happy with our prior experience. The CRV we purchased be years. We were able to have the same excellent salesman. We returned because we were very happy with our prior experience. The CRV we purchased before has been great; it is now retiring to Hawaii. We were a bit overwhelmed with all the technical information on the GPS, but we will recall what we were told with usage and the manuals. We felt the trip of 3 hours each way was worth it again, even though we have 2 dealerships in our home town. We do recommend Honda of Oakland. The staff is professional and likable. More
