Bought a vehicle back in January 2021 and now in August my bank is telling me they still haven't received the title for my car. I was working so decided to send my husband in to start financing paperwork to buy the vehicle and trade in my current car. KBB said my car was worth $15,998 with mileage and a few very minor scratches on a couple doors. Didn’t expect to get that much of course so asked what they could offer. They told my husband they could only offer me a little over $9000 because of reconditioning fees but original offer was a little over $12000. Looked at the reconditioning fees and they were trying to charge me to redo some work I just had done recently on my car. I looked up what my car sells on the lot with same make, model, year and mileage and they sell for $21000. So told my husband that’s a no from me but they told him we could negotiate AFTER they ran my credit and if the numbers were where we wanted to be. I told my husband there’s no point in running said numbers before the negotiations because if they couldn’t pay off my previous loan on the vehicle or come close what ever amount was left over would have to be carried over to my new loan. He went along with it anyway and while they were trying to get our loan approved my husband went to look at my new car. Well low and behold they brought out a different car. It was a lower grade model and a completely different color than the one I got pre approved for on their website. Once my husband told them that they asked oh which one? All he said was the white one and they knew exactly which car it was and told him it was sold 3 days prior. So how did I get pre approved for a car that was no longer there? And try to sell me a completely different downgraded model of the one I wanted for the same price? So obviously we ended up not trading or getting the other vehicle and my husband wasted 3 hrs and a hit to our credit score. I wrote to the GM in an email about the incident and never heard back. Not surprised! Ended up finding the vehicle at another dealership that was wonderful and didn’t try to rip me off and will never take my business to this dealership again even if they are the closest for service for my new vehicle. I would rather drive out of my way to another location. More
