We went in to see Todd Martin at Haddad Hyundai, and now we are leasing a 2017 Elantra (which we love), and he was able to eliminate the negative equity from our car we previously owned. It's a 3 year lease, and of course, the payments are higher, but at the end of the lease, we will save thousands compared to if we had paid the old loan off. The bank where we had the car loan with the 2013 would never agree to the terms that we were able to work out with Todd. It was a no-brainer. It doesn't hurt to examine your options!
