My wife and I decided to consider Kia East for the first time a few weeks ago. Kia in effect is a sister car company within the Hyundai Group, we opted to see what Kia had to offer in the form of the their time a few weeks ago. Kia in effect is a sister car company within the Hyundai Group, we opted to see what Kia had to offer in the form of the their new 2014 Kia Forte. Upon setting an appointment with our sales representative, Ms. Afef Chelbi, we were greeted immediately that evening. Afef was awesome in helping us get oriented with the vehicle and its many features. We took the Forte for a brief test drive and found the Kia Forte to be very much at par with the the Hyundai Elantra we drive now and the new 2014 which we had seen earlier. Still we had researched the Kia and upon seeing it in person we now realize why Kia is seeing a renaissance of sorts as an amazing success story. The car is really well built, solid, and NOTHING like the Kia's of old. The Forte stood out on a couple of fronts , compared to the Elantra.....memory seats, higher output engine, and both heated and cooled seats (front and back), ....features which the Elantra has but on a more limited scale. These features to us are trivial but to others they may make the difference between someone buying an Elantra or buying a Forte in this segment. This being said, the differences are in appearance mainly, and in the options list. Kia does offer a bit more bang for the buck depending on ones particular needs and this may explain to a large part their success and massive growth as of late as a company in the automotive world. To Kia's benefit, they do offer AMAZING value for the money you pay, but the key phrase is just that..."The money you pay". So what went well? Overall I can't say enough POSITIVE things about Ms. Afef Chelbi about her attentions and friendliness. She covered all the bases about the Forte with us extremely well and her personality is amazing and nice to work with. She never pressured or was aggressive in pushing us, which we appreciated immensely..the visit with her and out time with her was perhaps one of the most positive experiences ever in visiting any dealer. Where things went a tad wrong with her was in the pre-planning of our visit. I had asked Ms. Chelbi what we sought ahead of our arrival, and when we did arrive, we had to find the car within the lot. All told not a major thing but nonetheless a bit of a negative. Ultimately we saw/drove the 14 Forte Navi and we have NO issues with Afef. She is sweet and extremely professional in every angle we can think off. What took our visit downhill FAST was the sales management desk. Here is the thing, if Kia thinks that customers come in (for the most part) uninformed, I would encourage them to think again. People DO CONDUCT research on pricing and in these times people want to get the most for every dollar spent. Our initial quote by Sales Management for a fully loaded Kia Forte top of the line was $29K. THAT IS PATHETIC!!!!!. Considering the car at MSRP is at best 26K per the FACTORY WEBSITE, we thought this was laughable at this point. If they are starting at such a ridiculous price point, which they did, this broke the trust right off the bat with my wife and I. Literally having come from the auto industry myself years ago, you either make a good impression right off the bat or you dont. and that more often than not presents itself through the initial quote. This boils down to where you start. Needless to say after about hour and half a polite sales manager approached us aiming to massage the deal a bit, but still, and to our surprise, we were STILL working off the 29 grand they were determined to stick to. My wife and I walked out of Orlando Kia right away. A Few days later we received a follow-up call from a different sales manager dropping 4 thousand off the deal without barely putting up a challenge edge wise. What That basically told me is that their first quote was nothing more than an effort to make a huge profit at our expense and that of our trade which had huge equity. My question then became, one of the obvious....why not start from the MSRP which is fair instead of the $29K when we got there. That answer was never answered. In summary I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ms. Chelbi, she IS an AMAZING asset to Kia Orlando East in every respect, but I cannot say the same thing for the Sales manager(s) who we worked with her that day who came up with such a ridiculous starting point. The lesson here is that whatever you do WATCH the quotes and KNOW your MSRP when you come in so you have a factual understanding of what the cars price is. KNOW YOUR PRICES. I cannot stress this enough. Aside and all told the dealership is very friendly and courteous overall. If this dealership cannot work with realistic numbers off the bat and work down rather than up, I personally would not go there myself. I have yet to go to a Hyundai dealership in comparison where I can get as good a car (in this case an Elantra Limited vs Forte EX) fully loaded and pay no more than $26K. To have a $29K quote as a starting point on Kia's part is insulting. Had they started based on a real number between $25K or at MOST $26K, we would not have had an issue and likely at this stage we'd be proud Kia owners and even promote Kia of Orlando East as an amazing dealership. I would consider KIA in a future purchase but the moral here is it boils down to people and it boils down to real fair pricing numbers from where to start negotiations. If you start at a pathetic starting point, why even continue doing business there. I hope Kia East learned from this a bit. THey have LOTS of potential and have made a good positive name. This was to our collective surprise a disappointing visit only because of ridiculous numbers and nothing more not only during our visit but later in the manner the sales manager talked to me and my wife on a followup call. Being real in this day and age offers more potential in sales than to aiming to make thousands off people's back under the assumption that most people don't research or are naive. Newsflash..they do research and they do know when someone is being sincere or is trying to make a buck off of them. More

Eddie c Came in and purchased a New Kia Forte. Worked with George & Robert, both were very friendly and helpful. Oludare helped make the deal happen. Eddie completed the finance paperwork with us; he was great. Showroom was very clean, the process of the purchase was fairly easy. I'm not a fan of buying cars or car shopping; as it can be stressful... but this visit was not that way. We didn't feel pressured to purchase, which was nice. More

Buyer Beware I went to Orlando Kia East based on a commercial I heard on the radio promising up to 7,000 over trade value for a new Kia and that bad credit was no I went to Orlando Kia East based on a commercial I heard on the radio promising up to 7,000 over trade value for a new Kia and that bad credit was no problem. When I walked in I was greeted by a salesman who immediately started showing me a few vehicles. When we went inside to discuss numbers I advised him how much i could afford for down payment and what I wanted my monthly payment to be. He left and came back with some figures that weren't even remotely close to what i told him. I was about to walk out of the door when he told me to hold on a second. I waited for a long time. Then a finance person comes to my table and tells me what a piece of crap my car is and that i can't drive it anymore and that i need to leave in a Kia. Of course, this got me excited. After a lot of fast talk i got him to reduce the monthly and down payment. it was still more than i wanted but i was anxious to get a new car, you know, cause mine was a piece of crap. After 6 HOURS of waiting, I was finally able to leave and they let me take the new 2014 Rio that I just "bought" home. This is where the nightmare began. After about a week the salesman TEXTED me and said "bring the car back". No explanation, no apologies, nothing. I finally found out that they had not secured financing for me and i was being threatened to bring the car back or they would come pick it up. I was told I need to have a cosigner or bring it back. I wanted to avoid that total embarrassment so I had my father cosign, reluctantly. After that was approved I was able to upgrade to a Forte. Completely happy with the car but now another week later I'm being harassed THROUGH TEXT by the finance manager that I haven't paid my down payment completely. I would never recommend this dealer to anyone. They just want to get cars out the door at any expense. Go somewhere else. More
I went to this Kia dealership on 3/25/14 to get an appraisal on my 2012 Soul and see if I could possibly trade my car in for a 2013/2014 used model either a Soul or Sorento. As I was walking in the I appraisal on my 2012 Soul and see if I could possibly trade my car in for a 2013/2014 used model either a Soul or Sorento. As I was walking in the I was approached by Pedro (who did not introduce himself until the very end when he walked me to my car) and asked if I needed any help, I advised him of what I came in for and we went inside and sat down to get some information and discuss what I was there for. I had seen online a Kia Sorento 2013 with 19k miles on sale for 17k through another dealership (Classic Honda) but I figured let me try Kia dealership and see if I can get something within that range. After explaining to him what I was specifically looking for we went to the car lot to look at cars and immediately he steered me to the brand new models of 2014 Soul's after I stated to him that I was not interested in a brand new model because It would not fit the budget I was working with. We went ahead and took the new model for a test drive as he insisted. I loved it but needless to say I was not going to be able to get it. After returning from that test drive he finally decided to show me used 2013 models. We came across one model that was 2013 16k miles priced at $16,888.00 which I loved and felt it was more fitting for what I could actually afford. I asked if we could test drive it and I was denied, another couple came and started looking at the car with another sales rep. Pedro seemed to get upset that I was not the least bit interested in the newer model. I told him I want to see what numbers they can come up with on the used Soul. We went back inside and after about 30 minutes he finally comes back and shows me the cost sheet. When I saw the sheet I started to get upset, he had brought me a cost sheet for the brand new 2014 model which I specifically stated I WAS NOT going to get into that. Then to add insult to injury he tells me you will have to put money down there's no way to purchase this car without a down payment. I said first of all why? Secondly, why are we looking at the 2014 when I said no numerous times. He advised me that due to my credit score I would need a down payment, I asked him well I know I have good credit so where is my score sheet. He shows me the score sheet and it was the score sheet from 2/16/13 with my old credit score from when I stopped by and first started browsing for cars a year ago. At this point I was infuriated that they would try to play me for a fool. After me telling him I did not want a new model he started to try to talk me into a lease. I said absolutely not, but he kept trying to push for that sale. I never received the cost sheet for the 2013 model and I was told the other sales rep is already working on that one, and after all that mess he tells me "I'm sorry but I'm going to have to let you go" At that point I couldn't be happier to leave. He walked me to my car and was STILL pushing for the lease and it wasn't until then that he gave me his card and told me his name. I found this dealership to have the worst customer service and it was unprofessional. The receptionist kept interrupting him to remind him that he had his lunch waiting for him at her desk. All in all, horrible experience I have told all my friends and family and co-workers about this and some are in the midst of buying a new car. I do not recommend anyone to this particular dealership. I hope other buyers have better luck than I did. More
