Don't trust the service dept. I am leasing a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup. When my wife and I returned from a 2 month trip, I went to drive my truck which had been parked outside during t I am leasing a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup. When my wife and I returned from a 2 month trip, I went to drive my truck which had been parked outside during the winter. I noticed every time I braked, it felt like the brakes were pulsating or vibrating. I took it to Franklin Sussex thinking they would treat me fair since I bought the truck there. Well, they said the brake pads on the front and back needed replacing and I needed new rotors also because they were warped. I said how can that be, the truck only has 16,000 miles on it and I don't brake hard when I drive. I was given some story that the rust that built up on the rotor from being parked makes for an uneven surface and eventually causes it to warp. This was minimum a $1000 job. This didn't sound right to me, so I declined the repair and took the truck to Firestone. They checked it out and said the rotors just needed the rust cleaned off. They test drove it and the pulsating had stopped. They only charged $90. And they told me when new the brake pads are 10 mm thick, my front pads were 7mm and the back were 9mm. So nothing needed replacing! I am angry that Franklin Sussex lied to me. What makes me more mad is the realization that they might have just done the same fix as Firestone did and charge me for new pads and rotors, and I would never know the difference. I am never going back there for service and I suggest to anyone else if they give you an expensive estimate to go get a second opinion. You might end up saving a lot of money. I guess all those people who said never go to a dealer for repairs were right! More
