Great Service I came in ready to trademark old car in for a new one and I was immediately greeted by Larry. It took quite some time to complete everything and Larry I came in ready to trademark old car in for a new one and I was immediately greeted by Larry. It took quite some time to complete everything and Larry kept me informed the entire process. By the end of a 6 or 7 hour day neither of had eaten but we're able to get the car I really wanted. Buyer Beware One of the most bizarre attempts at buying a car that I’ve ever experienced. Background - my senior mom went in weeks prior looking for a car and had One of the most bizarre attempts at buying a car that I’ve ever experienced. Background - my senior mom went in weeks prior looking for a car and had a great experience browsing for cars with Larry. He quoted her a fair price and fair financing on a car but she wasn’t quite ready to buy that exact car. Fast forward a few weeks and two “certified” pre-owned cars that would better suit her become available. Unfortunately Larry is now on vacation so we end up meeting with Brian, who is newer to Hyundai. This negative review is NOT a reflection on Brian whatsoever. Brian took the time to meet with us and let my mom look through both cars and test drive the better car for her. He was not pushy and was friendly and honest. So far so good. She decides that the very basic car she test drove would be fine so we move on to the negotiation process. I explain to Brian that I’m not looking for a steal but am hoping to work on the price just a bit. Literally a couple of hundred dollars would have done it. Here’s where things got weird. Brian talks with his sales manager and comes to us with a final price $500 higher than the car is advertised for. Whaaaa? He then confirms with the manager that the advertised price does not include “certification” even though it clearly says certified throughout the ad but that they would honor that price and throw in the “certification” for the advertised price. Gee thanks, what a deal. Sorry, not buying that BS. This entire time he’s also trying to show me monthly payments, which (a) I don’t care about yet since we haven’t decided on a price for the car (b) are extremely inflated most likely in an effort to roll an extended warranty plan into the sale and (c) credit had not yet been pulled on me so how are you even coming up with these amounts. Here’s the kicker – the ridiculous payment amount was divided into two separate amounts – non-certified was $30 a month lower than certified over a 60 month period. So the supposed $500 certification all of a sudden costs $1,800? No offense to other buyers but I can only guess that Family Hyundai gets a lot of uninformed buyers to even try to pull tricks like this. Felt dirty overall during the experience. I understand the usual sales tricks and techniques but in my many years of buying cars, this was one of the most blatant and flat out dumb attempts I’ve ever seen to squeeze a few extra thousand dollars out of a very basic car. Maybe the sale just wasn't worth it for them late on a Friday. We obviously walked out and ended up buying a car at one of their competitors the very next morning. Buyer beware. Also, side note on their service department – they will take any license plate frame you have and swap it out with a Family Hyundai frame. We already own a Hyundai that we bought elsewhere and this happened during warranty service. Shady on all accounts Family Hyundai, shady. More
