Disappointing that the cost of diagnosis was as much as the repair. It would have made more sense to just replace the parts without diagnosis for $700 rather than pay $1400 for an oil change, diagnosis and the repair. Needed to replace the car battery to our 2017 Beetle. Easy enough to do myself but these cars often need to be reprogrammed after a new battery is installed I was told. Batteries are around $200.00 everywhere I checked before make the call to Dirito to check their cost. Was told $250.00, $200.00 for the battery and $50.00 to program/reset the computer. I asked if I put the battery in myself, then brought the car in, how much would the reset cost? Answer $250.00. So it did not make sense to buy the battery elsewhere and install it. Next question I had to Kevin, "so I am basically paying $50.00 to have it reset?". Answer: YES. Then I asked are there are any other costs? The answer I got back: NO. Imagine my surprise (and anger) when I went to pay the bill and it included a $195.00 labor charge! An incredible amount for a task so easy and quick to do, but more irritating that I was not told about it ahead of time. Not a happy experience at all! More
