A few weeks ago my wi To whom it may concern, We recently purchased a Ford C-Max hybrid/Energi from Darling, Bangor. Let me back up to explain why. A few weeks ago my wife and I went to fill up my truck and there was a car next to us that we have never seen before. The couple were nice enough to explain that the car was a Ford C-Max hybrid and they absolutely loved it, averaged over 47 MPG and got it to 77 MPG on occasion. They color was Ice Storm. They said if you take a test drive you will but it. So last week after much research on the vehicle, we drove to Bangor from Pembroke, Me (20 minutes from Eastport) in our Subaru Outback. We arrived arrived 9:30 AM and looked around the lot and didn't see any. So we went into the showroom and was met by a smiling Jerry Erbes, Sales Consultant. We sat and chatted about what we wanted to see and then proceeded to look at the C-Max's in the lot. There were a few of them and my wife saw the Ice Storm color one and Jerry proceeded to explain all of the features, including that this model was the Energi plug in. Jerry went on to show us all of the features (I was pretty amazed with his knowledge of this vehicle since this car has only been out for a couple of years). He said lets take a drive and we did. When we sat in it we were amazed by the amount of room up front and the smooth ride. As we were driving, Jerry was explaining all of the bells and whistles of the electronics which blew me away. We came back and started the negotiations. They looked at our Subaru as a trade in and and as we waited for the numbers, Jerry furthered educated us on the different features and of course emphasized the gas mileage we would be getting, averaged over 45 MPG and we could get up to 88 MPG! When the paperwork came back Jerry said it would cost us $570 per month for 54 months with our trade in and we said that we couldn't afford that amount since I retired 4 years ago. So he came back with a better plan, a lease. Nancy and I had explored leasing but couldn't be sold since there are a lot of negatives on leasing vice buying. After he explained all of the number, the bottom line was that the monthly payment would be $100 less that we were paying for the Subaru. I said write it up. He introduced us the Gary in Finance and he furthered our admiration of the people we had met at Darlings. Extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle since he has the hybrid model, we left his office with a great contract for three years, a bumper to bumper warranty including the tires and also received a card for 24 hour road assistance. What a deal. Were they a few negatives? Of course, not with Jerry but with Ford. Spending $35K for a vehicle you would think that the passenger seat would be electric but it isn't. I was also disappointed that this car didn't have the navigation system that I wanted. But overall, it is everything we wanted. We said goodbye to Jerry after ringing the horn (great touch as all the folks applauded!!) and thanked him for everything at 5:30 PM to drive back home. Normally one way to Bangor costs us $18-$25 in gas. When we got home we spent $9.00!! The next day I called Jerry to thank him for all of this help and asked him if there was an after market way to install the navigation system. He said he would explore it and get back to me. He called and said there wasn't but if we had a Smart phone and synced it with "Sync" we would get all of the capabilities of the system except the map. We tried it and it worked well. Overall I was very impressed with the total experience. Buying a car is not on my top 10 things in my bucket list but I have to tell you, Jerry changed that for me, going out of his way to explain everything to us in plain English. I applaud your agency in general and Jerry Erbes in particular for making Darling Motors our go to dealership. By the way we are averaging over 52 MPG driving around 600 miles to date. We are so grateful to have had this experience with Darling We had a breakdown with our Ford F250 diesel on our way to our home in CT because my dad was very ill and hospitalized. Danielle was so gracious and generous with her time. She stayed past her quitting time and arranged for a tech, Joe to stay also. When he was unable to get the truck started, Danielle asked Matt, (I'm sorry, but I did not get his last name) and Matt & Danielle were able to finally get the air purged out of the system and get us back on the road so I could get home to my dad. Words cannot express our appreciation for the dedication and generosity of these staff members. Darling is indeed fortunate to have such devoted and kind individuals on their staff. We found Darlings on the internet and dropped in with no appointnent - 3 hours l Our brakes fell apart while we were on vacation -450 miles from home! We found Darlings on the internet and dropped in with no appointnent - 3 hours later we were all fixed!! And Eric was so nice he told us about a place we could walk to to get a sandwich and where we could eat outside with our dogs!! We are grateful we found them!! More
They stand by their parts/work!!! I had a recent transmission issue with my car purchased new in 2008 from Darling Ford/VW/Audi. This dealership stands by their work and their parts and I would buy my next vehicle from this location without hesitation. We were helped by Fred Maddocks, and I'm so happy we were, he helped us have our absolute best experience buying a car. He was amazing, funny, polite, and out of his way helpful. He was willing to get into the trunk of our new car to show us how big the trunk was and all the trunk space we would have. Fred really went out of his way to get us into the car, when we showed up we weren't really sure if we would be able to get the car, but to our delight and surprise, and of course Fred's help we drove home in our new car! My husband and I were talking and one thing that we were blown away with was the fact that Fred took the time to show us the service department, and make our first 5,000 mile appointment with us. He then showed us the new parts department where my daughter and I picked out matching VW hats and also picked out 2 VW key chains. My husband and I have never been able to do that before and we certainly have never been given a tour. I would just like to say hands down Fred Maddocks is the best salesman i have ever encountered, and you are very lucky to have him be part of your sales team, don't ever let him get away More
A great customer service experience In this day and age when so many of my customer service experiences are lackluster at best and often times worse, my recent visit to Darling's Ford VW In this day and age when so many of my customer service experiences are lackluster at best and often times worse, my recent visit to Darling's Ford VW Audi Service was great. I was greeted by service reps with smiling faces and warm personalities. They actually listened as I described, using my non technical terms, the symptoms of the problem. I had agreed to leave the vehicle for the day when I originally set up the appointment so Ryan told me they would check it out and give me a call later in the day. I received a phone call a couple of hours later telling me they were able to duplicate the problem I described and would proceed to diagnose the cause. It was determined that the clutch had failed but rather than just tell me that, they researched the issue to help me understand the cause of the failure. They could just have easily told me it failed and how much it would cost to fix it. It was expensive to fix the clutch problem but Ryan and Seldon took it upon themselves to keep the cost as low as possible, something they did not have to do and other service centers I have used would not have done this for me. The service was completed quickly and I now have a vehicle with a clutch that performs as it did when new. And since my state inspection was due I also received a free vehicle inspection, something they do for their customers. My sincere thanks to Ryan, Seldon and John for making this service visit pleasant, friendly and professional. If you need service and don't know where to go to find people you can trust, I would highly recommend Darling's Service Department. More
Great experience and resolution Before visiting this location I had spent several thousand dollars on a TPS code/service light that was never resolved, and I felt like I knew more ab Before visiting this location I had spent several thousand dollars on a TPS code/service light that was never resolved, and I felt like I knew more about the issue than the places I brought it to. When I brought my truck into Darlings in Bangor, Maine I explained the error code and history in detail with my representative, and he promptly brought out the mechanic that would be working on it and had me explain everything in detail to him as well. It was a tricky problem that had stumped several other mechanics, and cost me a lot of money and aggravation. My mechanic was able to fix the issue quickly, and recommended a few other repairs. I was aware of each of the recommended repairs, but I had not mentioned them previously so I knew they were being honest with me. Since my first visit I have brought my truck in twice more, once for an extended warranty repair which required a lot of time and effort from my representative and mechanic, and another visit for some more basic maintenence. I've dealt with the same representative and mechanic with each visit, and they have treated me fairly and honestly. They contacted when they said they would, answered all of my questions, and did what was right even if it wasn't the easiest thing for themselves or the dealership. They are the only place I will bring my vehicle for maintenence now, if possible, and I will most likely purchase my next vehicle there as well. More

There was no time during the buying process where I thought we were "haggling" but rather we both shared our pricing logic and met in the middle. The deal was done but Darlings wasn't done with me as Rick made sure I was knowledgeable about the systems/warranties/service vehicles for my new truck so that I can maximize the utility it affords me - or some might say maximize the return on the investment. This wasn't about buying a Ford - it was buying a vehicle from Rick as I knew when I left it would be a "right size" for me. I don't just buy things / I invest in a relationship develop trust and then have no fears about acquiring - this is my third new vehicle purchase from Rick. BTW I did offer Rick my shirt but he said it wasn't needed! (:-) More
