I have purchased a new vehicle from Armstrong Ford every 3 years for the past 15 years. So when I came by to get another new vehicle, I was surprised to see that the dealership had changed hands and ALL of 3 years for the past 15 years. So when I came by to get another new vehicle, I was surprised to see that the dealership had changed hands and ALL of the people I knew had been replaced. A very nice salesperson, Eric, met me on the lot and told me that my prior saleperson was no longer at the dealership. I had Eric assist me in the sales process. When we got inside and began the dealings, Eric was very nice and polite. I believe that he asked me for more information than what he really needed to get figures, but I obliged him and gave him what he asked for. Then, he came back with a paper that had the selling price, down payment, trade price and monthly payments. I told Eric that I had title in hand and would pay cash difference. He told me then what the difference would be to trade. That was WAY OFF the mark. Prior to coming to the dealership, I had already been to my bank which gave me both the trade and retail values for my car according to Nada and Black Book. I also had already visited Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds.com and whatismycarworth.com. Between 5 different sources, I had a good idea of value. Cloninger was $2100 off the trade value on average! So, Eric had his sales manager come talk with me. His name was Sean. Sean was very rude, arrogant, and talked down to me the entire time. He got confrontational and basically try to tell me that I was wrong. Bad idea. So, I left the dealership and drove immediately over to Carmax in Hickory. I sold my vehilce to them for CASH (actually a check) and was given $2675 more than what Cloninger Ford had offered me. That was not a trade allowance. Instead, I drove over to Crossroads of Morganton and purchased my new car. After an 18 year relationship with the best car dealer around, I have now began my journey with Crossroads of Morganton. If Sean really is the sales manager, then the owner obviously does not know how to hire good people and the dealership will fall soon. Once again, Eric is an outstanding individual (maybe they should make him the sales manager). More

My husband and I were looking for a reasonable used car to replace his old Subaru. We found just what we were looking for with Cloninger. David was very helpful in offering his advice and time in getting to replace his old Subaru. We found just what we were looking for with Cloninger. We also used the financing institution that the dealership found for us and got a great rate for 36 months for the entire amount! When we arrived at the dealership, we were met by Eric, who we soon learned was very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a super dealership. Still the same when it was Armstrong. Everybody is great. The whole dealership is extraordinary. Great experience as always. Scheduled appointment for oil change. Arrived and was told approximate time of completion would be one hour. An hour later my car is still sitting where I parked it with no service performed. When I asked the rep if he thought it would begin to get worked on he stated they had a backlog and were getting to it. If I wanted to wait for hours to be served I would go to a quick lube with one person on staff. If they are going to schedule appointments then some normal time frame to be served would be greatly appreciated. And if you are running behind tell me when I arrive so plans can be adjusted accordingly. I will not be purchasing vehicles from this location following this experience and will not bring vehicles to this location for service in the future and will tell friends to avoid this location. I have less than perfect credit but Mr. Lipe really worked hard to get me into a new Focus. I am thrilled with the car and thrilled with the service at Cloninger. David Lipe called me every other day t worked hard to get me into a new Focus. I am thrilled with the car and thrilled with the service at Cloninger. David Lipe called me every other day to keep me updated on his search for the car I wanted. And although I didn't get that car, I am happy with the one I did have. (There was a time frame restriction on getting a car for me.) He was my champion in getting me a loan and making sure I am happy. He succeeded. He couldn't be there for when I picked up the car, but he put me in good hands with David Britt. He made sure I was comfortable with the car and took me around to the service department and introduced me to them. I am VERY happy with the sales department and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a car. (In fact, my dad is looking at the new Fusion and was impressed with the dealership, so I know where he will go first.) Big thanks to David Lipe and David Britt and everyone at Cloninger Ford for making a first time buyer's experience so nice and easy and comfortable. More
It was a "OK" experience. My mother and I love the car. However, it was around 5pm when we test drove the car and I wish we tried out the car overnight instead of being pressured in buying that n the car. We were told by the mananger that he had numbers that needed to be met for President's Day and that the price was for that night only. However, later, I found out the $2,000 rebate was for the whole month. The price was fair but I later found out the price was the same as the internet price of the car and I might have been able to get a better deal if I went home and did more research. Eric, the salesperson, was very nice to work with that night but there was not much follow-up after the sale. However, still love the car. More
