I used the internet to search for a used Mercedes SLK within 100 miles of home. I found one at Cloninger Ford. We called them on the phone about 9:30 AM and spoke with John Deal. We met John, he had the car ready for us to see and had answers to some questions we had asked when we called that morning. The wife and I took the car for a test drive and when we came back John got us each a cup of coffee and we sat down to complete the paperwork for the sale! No hassle. We got the internet price. No pressure to use their financing or extended warranty. Paperwork process was quick and correct. I was driving home with my new purchase by 4 PM. John Deal was a pleasure to work with! If not for our salesperson, Mark Engle, Cloninger Ford would have lost our business due to the rudeness and lack of professionalism on the part of Brian Simmons, the general sales manager. After explaining to Mark that two people in our family needed to leave for work and we would sign some paperwork and take delivery of the vehicle the next day, Brian interjected and told us if we didn't sign now, he wouldn't honor the price. His tone of voice was almost threatening, telling us how if we didn't sign his used car manager was sure to say no to the deal if he came in the next day. I was stunned as we had agreed to the deal and agreed to sign the buyers order and whatever other paperwork before leaving. He had already spent the whole afternoon there and had no choice but to leave for work in the evening. This led to one of us missing a work appointment just to get a new truck. Ashamed to be treated in such a way after we had bought a vehicle from them previously. I hope to never deal with Brian Simmons ever again. More
