VERY BAD Experience!!! We were helping our son buy his first car. On Monday morning Sept.3, 2018 we had an appointment with Devron Cummings and he worked up a deal on a new We were helping our son buy his first car. On Monday morning Sept.3, 2018 we had an appointment with Devron Cummings and he worked up a deal on a new Escape S. The offer was good for the day. When we went to purchase the Escape later that day he said it was sold from their other dealership. We called the next day to the other dealership and it was NOT sold at all. Why did we get this kind of treatment? Such a huge disappointment for my son and a terrible experience! They didn't even find us one. We will never ever buy from Cloninger Ford of Hickory. Runs your credit without approval! My husband received a pre approval from Capital One Bank ( which we have already paid off 2 vehicles with) , wanting us to try Cloninger Ford. We went My husband received a pre approval from Capital One Bank ( which we have already paid off 2 vehicles with) , wanting us to try Cloninger Ford. We went to just look at vehicles, showed them the letter, and salesman said they use Capital One alot. Salesman asked for my husband info just to get him into the computer. BAD MISTAKE giving them the info! We looked & test drove 2 autos, which turned out to be more & higher payments then we told the salesman we could afford. My husband told him NO on both autos, and to call us if they got anything else in that would match our requirements. Very nice salesman, we thought. My husband's credit was never asked to be run, we never decided on a vehicle we wanted, so we left. Now my husband has 3 hits to his credit report for them running his credit with 3 different companies. Never signed any paperwork giving them permission to run a report. Not one of them was even Capital One! So unless you want your credit report ran before you even have a vehicle you want to try for, DON'T give them any of your info! We will never go there again! Pushy, pushy, pushy. Originally I stopped by to look at any used cars on the lot. The salesman that me and my SO talked to seemed nice enough, and we expected a salesman o Originally I stopped by to look at any used cars on the lot. The salesman that me and my SO talked to seemed nice enough, and we expected a salesman on a lot to be a little pushy, so we weren't surprised when he asked to show us a car and have us test drive it. When we said we had an appointment and didn't have time for a test drive that day, he thought it appropriate to get a manager to come over and waste all of our time repeating everything that he had already told us. Through the following week, I received calls, texts, and emails requesting I come look at more cars. I did come back and try to find a used car I saw online, and was fortunate enough to speak with someone else, whom I actually liked, who informed me (despite one of the texts saying the car was available to see) that it was not on the lot that week. I continued to get texts, calls, and emails for days, until the salesman called my place of work to get me to come back and look at a car. This crossed a line for me, for sure. Would not recommend anyone give them contact information at all. Ended up buying a new car from a dealership in Lenoir who was offering a better deal and was so happy with the experience there that my SO decided to purchase a car from them as well. More
