Not sure who to address this to, the user name shows Jill. I only spoke to David Bates. Bates1234 or hp414. David, I apologized the other day to let you know the situation was unforeseen and unavoidable and even offered to pay for your gas expense. I didn’t and don’t want to argue about what you think is right or how you’ve been wronged by other dealerships. The last thing we wanted is to have you unhappy with us, especially after speaking to you on Wednesday about your bad buying experience with Chicago Motor Cars and the ongoing pending law suit. Now I feel I have to defend our position and I will recount the chain of events. After your numerous questions via email/phone and skepticism about “How, Why and Where” we obtained the E550, I assured you it was a very nice car and we had sold it previously and we recently purchased it to resale. I also explained at length our business philosophy. Because of this, I’m shocked by the way you are handling this. I informed you that we advertise/sell cars on many different “Buy it Now” auction style sites as well as other numerous sites we advertise on. I told I would leave the E550 there and have it cleaned. I did NOT tell you I would take the car off of the market for you to come by and SEE it. We do NOT hold cars for prospective clients to see, view or test-drive. We did NOT come to an agreement, verbally or written, or take any money from you to purchase the E550. I explained that most of our clientele is not from our area and I strongly encouraged you to have the car inspected by a certified Mercedes-Benz dealer or service shop of your choice so you wouldn’t have to make the drive down. Christine did what anyone in sales is supposed to do; Sell what is available. It would be ludicrous of her to ask the people in our showroom to wait, because someone else is on their way and wants to SEE it but hasn’t made ANY type of commitment to purchase it. You are a business owner and should understand that you can’t operate your business on future Possibilities. A sale isn’t complete until there is a commitment to purchase. Again, the circumstances were unfortunate the other day, but there was nothing we did wrong as a company. I will do my best to try and find another E550, if you would like? Please give me the exact specifications and I will go to work. I can’t make any promises on the timing of finding one; I can only say we will do our Best. Please keep in mind that if the same situation arises and you have not made a commitment to the car, it will be available for sale. Sincerely, Mark

Mark, I am very aware there was no final agreement, but we both know that car would not have been there that day if it was not there for us to look at. And Christine was very well aware we were on our way for that car, and that car only. So you wouldn't ask that couple to wait, but it was okay to belittle us enough to ask us to wait to see if their financing went through? Get real. And then gas money?? Are you serious? This has nothing to do with the price of gas driving to your location, it has everything to do with common courtesy and respect. You are right, David was cautious and asked you lots of questions prior to coming to see the car. And of course he would want to come see the car in person. If we have learned anything, it's to trust no one. You assured us you were different. The fact that David was on his way to see any car in the State of Illinois after the b.s. we've been through should have said something. You just proved you are certainly no different than the rest. Business is business, right? As long as you get money, you're happy. Screw customer service, that's apparently old school. I don't care how long it takes, we'll find a different car and it will be from someone who knows how to treat their customers. Jill
