Courtesy of Travis. Typical dirty negotiation tactics and they were so obvious that it was pathetic. He lost the deal because of $500 while his subordinate had already committed a lower price. they were so obvious that it was pathetic. They will lie to you, omit important info and guilt trip you at every turn. We fell for it. We wound up with a damaged vehicle that the extended warranty we purchased wouldn’t cover and the dealership would you at every turn. We fell for it. We wound up with a damaged vehicle that the extended warranty we purchased wouldn’t cover and the dealership wouldn’t fix. Going to be out about $1000 to repair it ourselves. This is the stereotypical car dealership full of wolves in sheep skins. If you are going to purchase with them, be very careful when dealing with them. They will try to rush you to sign. If you feel rushed, walk away, no matter what they say to you. Go slow and do a thorough exam of the vehicle. Also ask for a history on the vehicle. We were told we weren’t given a history because we didn’t ask for it. Unfortunately, we didn’t know we needed to ask. More
Capital Chevrolet performed an oil change and for the following days i noticed oil puddles on my driveway and garage floor. I started the auto at my home and heard an engine knock. I raised the hood to i following days i noticed oil puddles on my driveway and garage floor. I started the auto at my home and heard an engine knock. I raised the hood to inspect and found the oil fill cap had not been reinstalled. The entire engine compartment was soaked in oil and the dipstick wasn't on the dipstick. I immediately filled the oil to proper level and took the auto to Capital Chevrolet. The service dept. was not caring and after I insisted they clean it up they took the auto and power washed the engine. 1 1/2 hours later I find it sitting outside unattended where I lifted the hood and found it wet but still with oil in every crevace and surface. I asked for the service mgmt. and he never said sorry for it happening or for the poor cleaning. I asked to schedule a more detailed cleaning redo and for a loaner. They seemed put out but finally committed to call me when a loaner was available to have the work done. They never called! Following that experience I would never have a car serviced at that dealership and certainly would never buy a car from them. More
Purchased a classic 1973 Corvette. Although I understand the car was “as is” we made sure the dealer had the brakes checked out for safety. Both the salesman and manager assured us the brakes were checked o the car was “as is” we made sure the dealer had the brakes checked out for safety. Both the salesman and manager assured us the brakes were checked out and were good. Turns out both front and rear brakes were crystallized needing full replacement. Besides being costly this was dangerous. I am disappointed at the lack of honesty at the dealership. Also I paid full asking price for the car without haggling. Not good. More
Hidden costs and misrepresented discounts to get you in door The accessories that were supposedly added after delivery of the vehicle to the lot were not represented on the window sticker online or in person. I The accessories that were supposedly added after delivery of the vehicle to the lot were not represented on the window sticker online or in person. I sat down for the first round of negotiating to find that the price before all of the typical other charges is about 10% higher than I expected. I knew this deal wasn't going to work right off the bat as I was faced with negotiating these costs down to just breaking even on the sticker price. There are also a lot of advertised discounts, some I was aware I would not quality for. As for the rebates I was told sevveral times I would qualify for, they were just compensated for on their end by dipping into some of the other discounts. Basically, what I was presented with online was a discounted amount of about $2500 ("dealer discount"). When I went in knowing that I would qualify for a GM discount for teachers, they told me it was going to amount to about $1400 off. Great, right? Ya, no. When he came out with the offer, it basically replaced the dealer discount of $2500. So, I literally would have saved $1100 by NOT letting them know that I was a teacher. Pretty awesome. This was a 'new' vehicle with 5000 miles on it, also. When I asked what the savings would be for a 'new' vehicle with almost half a year of miles on it, he pointed to the dealer discount on the website that he pulled up with the advertised price and 'savings.' He actually pointed to the $2500 dealer discount that I was literally told moments earlier would actually be $1100 less because I made the mistake of spilling the beans about me being a teacher. I asked, "That amount is your percieved diminishd value based on the use and mileage of the car as a demo?" His response was, "That's what we've discounted the car." I asked, "So, that's what you feel the depreciation of the car would be?" He responded, "This is our discount on the vehicle." That told me enough and I implimented my exit strategy after apologizing to my salesperson, Ben, who was great through the experience and had done what he could to earn my business. I also told him that I basically thought the whole representation of the rebates, discounts, and initial cost of the vehicle as it was presented on the lot was really shady. More
