In this day and age I’ve found it’s best to manage my expectations with service experiences. That strategy paid off with my most recent trip to Basney service related to an air bag light. My Honda is 13 years old and I hoped using a dealership for this service would ensure brand-specific accuracy. Instead of being disappointed that the service took longer than expected, I assumed it would take at least two days and I arranged alternate transportation during that time. Basney also prepared me for the possibility of a part needing to be ordered, which could lead to a longer wait. Nice surprise: Basney called me with updates. A specific reason I had avoided Basney as a service provider for two or more years was because I had to check on progress myself and since nobody responded to voicemail messages, I had to make multiple calls. The part was in stock, which surprised both me and the tech who called me, and the service was complete by end of the same day I dropped it off. Nobody was unfriendly at the dealership, but I still got a sense that I was a bother. I don’t need to be welcomed with open arms, especially if you fix my car right on the first try, but I also don’t want to feel like I should apologize for needing to take some of your time to pay you hundreds of dollars. Disappointed in their performance - how long it took to do a brake job. Should have been 1 to 2 days - it took 4 days. Service contact’s second response at day #3 was the person working on my car left early and he didn’t know why. I called the service department manager after day 3. He didn’t not answer the phone. I left a detailed message about the history of my experience. He never returned my call. On day #4 I asked for my service contact and was told he was not there. I bought my car from Basney Honda and have previously had several services done on my car and they always did what they said they were going to do and finished when they said they would. I don’t know what has changed at Basney Honda’s service department, but it is unlikely I will return. Unfortunate for Basney, since I own two Honda’s. More
