The buying experience was fine up until we completed the purchase, where our service advisor and manager were suddenly unreachable for several days at a time and would never return phone calls, text messages, or emails. Calls to the general sales line led to me being asked to leave voicemails that were virtually never returned. The purchased car sat on BMW of Carlsbad's lot for about 3 weeks before they coordinated cross-country transportation. Following up twice a week was met with radio silence. This begins the recurring theme of zero post-sale service. The most egregious issue was the dealer's inability to register the vehicle in my home state (IL), The car was finally sent to me about a month after purchasing the car with the prior lessor's California plates in the trunk and no temporary plates. Yes - the car was not legal to drive on IL roads at this point it was delivered from the dealer. I followed up with the service advisor and manager on a weekly basis who seemed surprised that they would not have provided temporary plates. There was virtually no communication with the dealer about the status of the registration despite my follow ups who assured me that "the registration was in process and they were waiting for the IL DMV to respond" over the course of 6+ weeks. My plates and registration finally arrived in the mail without warning over 10 weeks after I purchased the car. To add further injury to this process - due to the dealers inability to properly title and register the car on time, I am now getting hit with a $525 penalty from the IL DOR as the dealer registered the car over 6 weeks past the 30 day required timeline. I have been reaching out the dealer for a week to see if they can provide supporting documentation and no surprise - anyone I dealt with when purchasing the car is unreachable and I am asked to leave voicemail messages that are never returned. The dealer was happy to sell me the car and take my money - but there has been ZERO post-sales support starting the day after the purchase. Out-of-state buyers beware. More

I feel like I have a very strange relationship with this dealership. I leased a vehicle from them in December, but it took me a few visits before I decided to work with them. If memory serves correct, I worked with them because of their selection, but my first warning that I shouldn't have worked with them was when a sales representative "said" he was going to get back with me and never did. I ended up working with another sales rep, who got my business. My sales rep said that after driving the car for a month or so, call them and they could have a "BMW Genius" work with me so that I know all the nitty-gritty details and features of my car. Okay. Sounds cool. Life happens and time passes. 10 months later, I call and leave a message with a human who told me that someone would call me back. Nobody did. I sent a text to my sales rep who said HE could do the "Genius" appointment. He asked when I was available. I responded. He never did. I called again and some one with an attitude (Fred? I believe, but I don't want to give Fred a bad name) transferred me to a voicemail system that hung up on me. (Think he did it on purpose after I called him on his attitude.). Called back. Talked to another human who said he would "walk my message" over to the "Genius" group who would call me back to schedule the appointment. Never heard back. Leads me believe that the "Geniuses" know about their cars, but don't know how to make a phone call or schedule an appointment. I love my car. Believe I got a decent deal, but I question why I worked with them at all. Considering I leased the car and will need another one eventually, you'd think they'd realize that I am going to be a client for someone in the near future. More
