Not a Good Experience I bought a used SUV from Annapolis Car Center the week before Thanksgiving and have had it back in the shop four times since. Although I think the service guys, Russ and Byron were extremely kind and did their best to help me; my overall experience was not good and is one that I think others can learn from. On the way home from the dealership we found that the vehicle didn’t have heat, being too late to return that evening, we had it back in the shop to have the heat repaired the first week. Within the next two weeks, the tire pressure light came on and although we filled the tires up, the light did not go off. Back to the shop again to learn that the tires were in fact properly inflated, but they didn’t have the capability of getting the light off as it was an “electrical glitch.” About a month after purchasing the car, the week before Christmas; something went wrong with the transmission. After being told to have my vehicle towed back to the shop, I was told that a transmission line had blown. After paying for the tow and the deductible to access my warranty, it cost close to double what it would have to have a line repaired locally. I should add that I live about an hour and fifteen minutes away, decreasing the mileage on the warranty each time I had to drive down and back. Believing that the transmission line was in fact the cause of my problems, I drove to Florida for the holidays. I felt as though the vehicle wasn’t quite shifting correctly, but took into consideration that it was a new vehicle that I wasn’t used to yet. In the length of the drive out of state, (due to the mileage) my vehicle became out of warranty. In continuing to drive my vehicle when I got back home, I found that the shifting concerns increasingly got worse. I took it to a local transmission shop where I was told that I needed a new transmission. I called Annapolis Car Center and confirmed that blown transmission lines could in fact damage the transmission, but there is no way be 100% sure. They asked me to bring the vehicle back in once again where they too found that it did need a new transmission. I felt that since I was not 100% sure either …50/50 chance as to whose fault it was/ when the damage happened, I would ask that only half the cost to re-manufacture the transmission was paid by them. (Less than $1,500) Although he would not speak with me directly, the owner’s response was that he would charge me an additional $800 over (what I was asking them to pay) to replace my transmission for a used one with 90K miles!!! Not much help, nor was it even what the employees in his shop recommended. I guess the “final straw” was that in one of my many trips back to the dealership, I saw the SUV that I had traded in sitting on the lot… the one that I was told wasn’t worth what they were giving me and was being taken to auction immediately. It was listed for over $8,500 more than they gave me on my trade. With such a profit, it is unimaginable to me that the owner of Annapolis Car Center wouldn’t make good a transmission problem that went bad, even when brought in for a transmission concern under warranty. Although the actual employees and service techs were great to deal with over the past few months, I would not recommend this business to anyone and hope that others can learn from the troubles that I have been through! More
