A complete disaster in every way. If you go to Acura of Sherman Oaks for any reason, you will only find regrets. The very worst car dealer nightmare in every way. Please read revi If you go to Acura of Sherman Oaks for any reason, you will only find regrets. The very worst car dealer nightmare in every way. Please read reviews here and at other review websites. 1) Extensive bait and switch advertising with fake prices on all new and all used cars. All the worst sales practices of a stereotype used car dealer to an absolute extreme level of con artist scams. Over $10,000 of junk upsell fees on a used car! If you see a car for $30,000 advertised, it is impossible to buy it at Acura of Sherman Oaks for less than $40,000. You will only learn about that at the very last stage of your process, just before you pay for the car -and after you have spent hours with the sales person having conversations about the fake advertised price. 2) Long list of junk fees for additional cost items that are not advertised on the website, including things that were never done and things that were done three years ago when the vehicle was sold by another dealer. Very expensive Permaplate wax package is mandatory, for thousands of dollars. Specific upcharge items for thousands of dollars were named " security labels" and "scratch protection clear decals" and "tracking system" with the claim that Acura of Sherman Oaks installed all of the extra items to prepare the vehicle. Upon closer visual inspection, it was obvious that wear and tear and scratches were visible from the previous owner and all security stickers and tracking system were old, paid for years ago by the PREVIOUS owner. Outright FRAUD. 3) Used vehicles with severe defects are sold with a fake "Lithia" 60 day warranty. The Sales Manager subsequently informed me that all warranty promises on the signed contract are immediately void once the buyer drives off the lot. So to get warranty coverage to be in effect, you must buy the car and then leave it there to have them perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair - after you pay for the vehicle. Then you have no vehicle, and the repairs will be denied. 4) Extensive failures in documentation process, especially with processing of DMV registration and title paperwork. Endless errors with incorrect data on everything including the loan documents. 5) All communication with external email or text messages is from many fake software robots that generate written replies that are obviously not human, but pretend to be real people with names and photos taken from stock photo thumbnails. Don't bother to send voicemail, text, or email to anyone there. All the names are FAKE NAMES. A sales manager explained that Lithia dealers do this to screen all incoming external contact events with robotic software, so that only contact from buyers with urgent needs to purchase a vehicle will ever receive a human reply. 6) No response from anyone at Acura or Lithia to customer telephone voicemail or email communications. All messages are ignored, even when Lithia Cares contact website is used to ask for help. 7) All Sales and Finance staff have been terminated at Acura of Sherman Oaks. Business may be in transition to new owners or possibly going out of business. 8) When challenged to explain the extensive bait and switch schemes, the website fake price advertising fraud, and misleading warranty tricks, a senior sales person defended their practices by saying that : "We use all the same tricks that you will experience at any dealer in southern California. So you cannot escape the $10,000 hidden upcharge package no matter where you buy a car. So you may as well just buy one here at Acura of Sherman Oaks, at the hidden higher price" The only honest person I talked to at this Acura dealer was Darin Sanders in the service department. Everyone else told lies every time they talked to me. More
After inspection and drive test ready to buy the vehicle as is and no additional cost to be added but the sales manager doesn’t want to sell it to me with out additional cost like clear shield, permaplate p as is and no additional cost to be added but the sales manager doesn’t want to sell it to me with out additional cost like clear shield, permaplate paint and recovery gps. This are the optional and not to insist to costumer to buy it. With this experience in this dealership is no good for me. Hoping the costumer manager will do something about this experience to make their dealership more efficient in sale input. More
Sleazy and pushy, particularly the managers above the salespeople. Salesguy seemed nice enough during test drive but when we got to numbers, they wouldn't budge. Refused to drop on price at all, didn't g salespeople. Salesguy seemed nice enough during test drive but when we got to numbers, they wouldn't budge. Refused to drop on price at all, didn't give a fair trade-in. I was totally ready to buy, but they were so rude we walked away. It's okay -- got a better deal at a more reputable dealer elsewhere and will never come back here. More
I wish i could give zero stars but i can't. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALER! They will lie to your face saying they won't charge you for OPTIONAL packages (permaplate, theft gps, lifetime oil changes, DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALER! They will lie to your face saying they won't charge you for OPTIONAL packages (permaplate, theft gps, lifetime oil changes, etc.) but will still add it to the contract and make sure you sign without explaining what you're signing. When you're signing contracts at the dealer its very difficult to go over every little thing since everything is happening so fast and they just keep handing you papers to sign. The financial manager who helped me (his name was Hovick) didn't explain very well what I had to sign and i tried my best to read the little stuff but i did miss a few key things. I got charged over $2k worth of OPTIONAL packages. In the beginning they told me they wouldn't charge me for the theft GPS device (cost is about $800) because i kept telling them i didn't want it. And they also told me the permaplate comes with the car and they couldn't do anything about it (It was over $1100 for it!) keep in mind both of these things are OPTIONAL and in the contract itself it says "it is unlawful to require or attempt to require the purchase of this GAP waiver or ANY OTHER OPTIONAL ADD-ON PRODUCTS OR SERVICES." When i called the dealer a couple days later (after carefully going over my contract) i told them about this situation and after finally getting ahold of the manager (i forgot who i spoke to), he said those add-ons are required for them to sell the vehicle and if i didn't want them i should've been told that they weren't going to sell the vehicle to me. I left him my number so the financial manager who helped me with the contracts will call me back that same day to see if we can resolve the issue. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! First off, that's against the law to require add-ons for a purchase, and second off, none of their workers told me this the day i purchased my vehicle. On the contrary, they said they wouldn't charge me for the theft GPS and that they'd lower the price on the permaplate. They did NEITHER of these things! To this day i haven't gotten a call back from them LMAO. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALER, THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND LIARS. More
My experience with a sales person today was strange. Besides being pushy and lurking over my shoulder the salesperson showed me a vehicle on the showroom floor that does not function at all. The salesp Besides being pushy and lurking over my shoulder the salesperson showed me a vehicle on the showroom floor that does not function at all. The salesperson told me it must be a bad battery. That hardly bodes well for one's future enjoyment of the MDX. It is really a shame as I like the vehicle. More
Not even a 1 star is going to be given here. I bought a car from this dealership in May and it is now November 1 and I still do not have my plates for my car. I went to the dealership to speak I bought a car from this dealership in May and it is now November 1 and I still do not have my plates for my car. I went to the dealership to speak with the finance people and they were clueless as to what is going on. The DMV stated they never received the appropriate filing papers from the dealership and are still waiting for the papers. I have been dealing with this for the past almost 2 months and still no answer as to what is going on. Supposedly they never received the title from the previous owners bank. I am now going to have to get an attorney to get this resolved as my car is not registered and I have no plates. Very very frustrated customer. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALER!!! More
As stated before even writing reviews on this site and Yelp nothing seem to help resolve issues with this dealership. In addition to visiting the dealership and talking to Karl Malone and lately with Step Yelp nothing seem to help resolve issues with this dealership. In addition to visiting the dealership and talking to Karl Malone and lately with Stephan that promised 2 weeks ago to personally make sure I get my refund, nothing happened and no one is returning phone calls. I will not let go $535.00 .i am sure they would’ve send it to collection if they were owed the money. I wish someone from management read this and contact me. Dany and Kelly Malka More
I rarely post reviews but this situation at Acura of Sherman Oaks pissed me off so much that I had to vent! It all started when I looked in Autotrader for a used Acura RLX. I came across one at Sherman Sherman Oaks pissed me off so much that I had to vent! It all started when I looked in Autotrader for a used Acura RLX. I came across one at Sherman Oaks that was pretty much what I was looking for. I began talking with a gentleman named Kevin. At first he was very responsive and willing to take video of the car (as I live in AZ and the car is in Cali). Then we started the negotiation part. I told him what I was willing to pay and his response was this: "I have already given you our BEST PRICE $38,500 (his actual text message)". Then later that day he tells me this: "Hi David, I've just been informed by my Used Car Manager we are no longer selling used cars "out of state". Only in California". What??? I've never heard of a dealership not willing to sell a car out of state. Why would they care where the car goes?? Next morning I got this text: "Good morning David, I have spoken with my GM, he is willing to sell the car "out of state" with a straight cash deal (wire transfer) and you paying for transportation. Let me know if you have any questions". I immediately told him ok! I was planning on paying cash anyways! What I didn't realize is that they added to the price $400 for door edge guards, $800 for Permaplate Appearance Package, and bumped my price back up to the full selling price of $38,977. What the heck?? First, they never disclosed the additional add on fees (which my understanding is California Law to disclose up front) and then they jacked the price up from the $38,500 they originally offered. I called Kevin (salesman) and he said that those items are plus $'s and the increased price. I asked him what the heck? He said that's the price which was agreed to by his GM (Brian C) and it's a business decision. He went on to say: "David, I gave you an amended quote this morning in writing. I would expect you to read it before telling me "yeah that works for me!" He was rude, short, and then hung up on me!! I couldn't believe my ears! I continued our conversation via text. "I just can't believe that you guys are so willing to upset a customer about $500 bucks which could affect a companies reputation (I was willing to pay for the door edge guards and the Permaplate). Just seems wrong and you would feel the same if you were in my shoes". At the end of the day, I called Brian (General Manager) several time and left messages with no response to talk about this unfortunate situation. I also called the Used Car Manager Gavin several times and left a message to please call back but no response! The unfortunate part is I wanted the car and was willing to pay the $38,500 price they stated was their best price. Then they added about $1200 in add on's and bummed the price from the $38,500 to $38,977 because they said I was out of state! This whole thing was dishonest, unprofessional, and a bait and switch. This whole thing is contrary to what they say is their mission statement: "The Acura of Sherman Oaks Sales Department is dedicated to providing a hassle-free car-buying experience, where establishing respect and building a relationship with the customer is the number-one priority. The staff at our Sherman Oaks Acura dealership believes that the sale of the car is not the end of the transaction; rather, it's just the beginning". I would have hoped this was true and I really tried to make this deal work out but nobody from the Salesman to the Used Car Manager, to the GM cared to make a customer happy and live up to their mission statement. So, please do yourself a favor, if you want to purchase a Acura go to a different dealership. If you really need to go to this dealership make sure you don't give your business to Kevin Please use a different salesperson. This story is 100% true and accurate I swear!! Sad:-( More
Dealership claimed it spent over four hours to replace front wheel bearing for my TL and slapped me with eight hundred dollar bill. Daylight robbery! Be warned. front wheel bearing for my TL and slapped me with eight hundred dollar bill. Daylight robbery! Be warned. More
I hope the General Manager of this store sees this I hope the General Manager of this store sees this review and takes proper action of his employee John. I came to see a car with my sister and broth I hope the General Manager of this store sees this review and takes proper action of his employee John. I came to see a car with my sister and brother got to try to work out a deal for her being a previous buyer with Acura. I asked John not once but twice if his “dealer add ons” were mandatory he then proceeded to raise his voice and say “yes I will not remove them they are mandatory” Obviously this is how every dealership makes money. Off of accessories that ARE NOT mandatory. He then asks who is the car for you or your sister, obviously being a bit familiar with sales and dealerships I didn’t want her to come out of that store with full accessories. Very unprofessional More
