We got Exactly What We Wanted! Tom and I knew exactly what type of used car we wanted to buy - the age range, as well as the specific criteria that were important to us. We scoured CarGurus, CarFax and countless car dealer descriptions. Every time we thought we found the Honda Pilot we were looking for, we would be disappointed. Dealer after dealer ignored our specific criteria. They also attached fees for which there was no logical explanation. $799 for Dealer prep fee; $599 Infrastructure fee??? in addition to the cost of the car? That just did not seem right to us. And, the number of times our intelligence was insulted - we won't even get into that! As luck would have it, we stumbled onto the AAA Car Buying Service! Nelson LISTENED and worked with us to find the Honda Pilot we wanted. He explained the rigorous inspection check list AAA follows; he was very transparent and told us what the $255 fee was for (preparing paperwork, tag and tax. He explained existing warranties and gave us options to buy extended warranty without pressuring us to do so, The best part was that AAA delivered the car to our home in SC with the proviso that if the car did not meet our expectations, they would turn around and drive it back to Charlotte, NC. FIND A USED CAR DEALER THAT WILL DO THAT FOR YOU AT NO EXTRA EXPENSE!!! I have been a AAA member longer than I can remember. The auto buying service is phenomenal; it is the best perk of membership. It is the ONLY way we will buy a car in the future. More
