I’ve never had to work harder to purchase a car than I did at Royal Oak Ford. I did the research, I knew exactly which make/model, I walked in prepared to pay cash or finance whichever was more lucrative did at Royal Oak Ford. I did the research, I knew exactly which make/model, I walked in prepared to pay cash or finance whichever was more lucrative for them, and I still couldn’t get a deal done. 4 hours wasted and because my Wife couldn’t come to sign the paperwork that day, I was told that the vehicle could be sold to someone else. We have 3 kids, we both work, I had to take a day just to go up and sit for 4 hours of process. Apparently, you can usually e-sign all documents but the odometer form… but not at Royal Oak Ford. In the year 2022, be prepared to have all parties present to be able to purchase with a wet signature. Somehow, I can get a mortgage entirely online but must ink at this dealership. The franchise dealership model is utterly broken, and I look forward to a time when their lobby (NADA) stops protecting franchise dealers, most of which are bankrupt of basic customer service skills and modern processes. I should also add that I was looking to buy an $85k vehicle and could barely get a “how do you do”. I understand the market is hot, but where is the service? How am I to perceive the Ford Motor Co. brand from this interaction? Take a number, get in line, and maybe we will sell you a car? The best I could get from the Sales Manager was “we don’t hold cars”. Well, I’m sure that level of service works alright in this market, but I wonder what things will look like if/when supply returns to normal. Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned but I expected some small bit of courtesy, especially when making such a large purchase. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen at Royal Oak Ford and maybe just not from Ford Motor Company in general anymore… More
