There are several situations where it doesn't dim or stops dimming when I still hav The auto dim on my rear view mirror is not working up to my needs. There are several situations where it doesn't dim or stops dimming when I still have lights behind me in the mirror, such as when there is no one directly behind me, but cars in the next lane over, and it doesn't dim, but I still have their lights in my mirror. Or on a country road when someone is a quarter of a mile back with their brights on, and it doesn't dim until they are a half a block away. I don't like that the the rim of the mirror doesn't dim, and while it is sufficient for low beams, it is not sufficient for high beams or a pick up truck with low beams at the same level as my rear view mirror. The gentleman I worked with mostly succeeded at acting kind and concerned, but he blew it when he told me that "some people are just more sensitive, like my wife who smells things I don't and then gets mad at me". Not a good way to show that you are sympathetic and wish you could help, but your hands are tied. I also felt the complaint he filed for me was very inaccurate. He stated that there are cars behind me and it doesn't dim. True, but it sounds like I think it doesn't work at all. It does work, but not nearly well enough. I really didn't expect to get the answer I wanted - an old fashioned, low-tech rear view mirror that is controlled by a person, and will not have so many false negatives. He did, however file the complaint and he told me if Honda ever sees it as a problem, I will be informed so I can get mine fixed. I'm not holding my breath, and in the mean-time I have to find a way to make an otherwise nice car less of a headache (literally). PS I didn't bother to mention the sun visor that has gaps in coverage on both sides. That I fixed with duct tape on the windshield. I think the Insight was designed, built, and tested on a cloudy day. Sad that such a nice car fails on two ridiculously simple items which I have never had a problem with in any of the five other cars I have owned (one of which was an Odyssey that I absolutely loved and drove a very happy 211,000 miles in). More
