I was disappointed with my first time Landrover buying experience. I hope I love my Landrover because the customer experience was lacking. It was clearly expressed to me that the Landrover “sells itself” experience. I hope I love my Landrover because the customer experience was lacking. It was clearly expressed to me that the Landrover “sells itself” with no apology for pricing or need to haggle on price. I can appreciate this to a degree, but unfortunately, it seems this attitude translates to a poor customer experience in other areas. The customer should feel like the dealership is still wanting to earn your business and work for it…to do everything to go the extra mile to keep people wanting to come back. For example, the car I purchased was a certified used car. I requested it be thoroughly detailed as it was currently being driven by the general manager as his business vehicle. It was kept clean, but not detailed as one would expect when driving a luxury car off the lot. This request was brushed off and in so many words said it wasn’t necessary, I still asked for it anyway and left the vehicle overnight so this could be done the next morning. When I arrived in the morning, it had been “cleaned” by a different sales associate, but not detailed as I had asked. I was also scheduled that morning to receive my more in-depth instruction on the vehicle which was done by yet another sales associate. At that appointment, the sales associate explained he had another appointment upcoming, and we would have a limited time to complete this instruction. This sales associate was very kind and helpful but I felt that I needed more time to gain a better understanding of the vehicle. I have yet to schedule my encore session. Furthermore, I had to later ask that the car be serviced and inspected and have the oil changed since this was a technically a used vehicle. Overall, I was just not impressed with the experience. I purchased another car for my wife a week later at a Chevy dealership, and the customer experience was off the charts. I didn’t have to ask for the car to be detailed, but when our transaction was complete, the car was brought to me, immaculately detailed, and the service we received was exceptional. So while people have their preferences on the type of vehicle they drive and purchase, it cannot be overstated that the way customers feel when purchasing a vehicle is just as important as the type of vehicle they are buying.
