Highly recommend car shopping here if you enjoy being lied to and ripped off! Took 6 hours to finalize the deal because Rafael was working with me and another customer at the same time. Rafael lied to me twice. Right when we first met, I had told him I'm ready to put 7-8k down today on a down payment. His response was something along the lines of "We can definitely work with that... Oh that's great, that opens up a lot of options for you." I'm under the assumption I can totally put down 8k. Once we were deep in discussions regarding financing, he said I could only put down 5k, which was a huge surprise. Obviously, the limit exists so that EchoPark can finance higher amounts on each deal. Next, possibly the worst part about was being lied to about refinancing. My Equifax report came back in the high 800s. First offer comes back from Ally Bank at a interest rate of 8%, I told them to shop around because that seemed way too high for my credit standing. My fiance bought a car the same day and she got 5.3%, and her credit score is a few points lower than mine. He claims that they shopped around, and returns with the same rate and loan term. I said "Okay, well can I refinance it right away, right?" Rafael responds "Oh sure, you can refinance tomorrow if you want to." So that was the plan, I would refinance the car to get around 5% APR, and save 2-3k in interest. Nope! Turns out you cannot refinance an auto loan through Ally until 7 months in. Thanks Rafael! The forced "gotcha package" which gives EchoPark an extra $699 on every sale is offensive, but being lied to twice during financing is unacceptable. While I did consider walking away while Rafeal would leave me hanging for 45 minutes at a time while he worked with another customer, lucky for him and EchoPark, I really wanted the vehicle. More
