I am a disabled veteran served 20yrs in the military, recovering from a stroke suffered in Jan 11, 2022, my name is Luis Rivera. I need your help. I financed together with my son a 2015 hyundai veloster recovering from a stroke suffered in Jan 11, 2022, my name is Luis Rivera. I need your help. I financed together with my son a 2015 hyundai veloster from Jenkins Hyundai of Jacksonville located at 11107 Atlantic Blvd. The vehicle was purchased with 83,033miles. A couple days later my son moved to texas and while in texas 3months later the vehicle engine light came on, stalled and then cut off on him. He took it to a auto shop cause it was near by, in texas (invoice included) with only 89,142miles, they recommended to be taken to a hyundai dealership because there was an active recall. The texas hyundai dealership was taking too long to troubleshoot, then I arranged for a car transport back to florida. I took the vehicle back to Jenkins Hyundai. They determined the vehicle engine needed to be replaced. I reminded them that this vehicle was just purchased at their location with 83,303, and in 3months it ended at the shop. The dealership was giving me a hard time for months, and they kept on stating that the corporate refused to replace the engine.. corporate refused it because of maintenance neglect on record.. the delearship did not revealed this to me nor did they revealed engine potential class action at the time of sale. We were going back and forth for months.. i send an email to the state attorney for help and guidance.. will include as attachment as well. After months of going back and forth, the general manager Mr. Phil Barber had contact me. And he got into a verbal agreement with me, we negotiated I was going to pay 2000.00 and they were going to install a new engine. Months later, received the call from service manager Tony Knight, stating the vehicle is ready for pickup. Once I got there, and inspected the car, just to see that the service manager decided on his own to disregard the general manager's request and installed a used engine with unknown miles. I was very upset.. trying to recover from a recent stroke and dealing with this type of deception. I told the service manager what happens if this engine with unknown miles breakdown cause of the known engine issues of these engines.. they stated warrantee will cover it.. So i purchased the Hyundai Protection Plan warrantee. Engine replaced on 26Nov22. Because the agreement was 2000.00 for a new engine, instead they put a used engine, I told the manager I will not pay the 2000.00. So GM waived it. My son came to florida, drove it to Illinois, all was well, kept up with all the maintenance via a hyundai dealership. And then in Dec2023 the engine light again comes on, the vehicle been sitting at a hyunday shop since Dec2023 with same indications and it was determine one of the cylinder lost pressure. The hyundai service manager at illinois stated the HPP, Hyundai warrantee refused to initially grant the engine replacement until they inspected for any neglects. So the manager needed the okay that I will cover the cost to tear it down so the hyundai tech could inspect it, that if HPP decides not to cover it I will have to pay the teardown which cost over 1200.00. I stated go ahead tear it down so they could inspect it to make the determination that they will warrantee the replacement, I told them, this engine was replaced by hyundai dealership in jacksonville 1yr ago. And i was told it was covered by HPP. Today I just got word from the service manager in illinois that HPP will only cover little over 9k because of the value of the car, and i need to pay the difference, which is over 10k. I am so upset.. these vehicle since purchased been in the shop most of the time. Please help.. I have emails I would like to forward from a law firm who was dealing with a class action about these hyundai vehicles with these known issues. I was also corresponding with State Attorney because i felt this is a deceitful practice. Please help.. the vehicle is still sitting in illinois I went to hyundai jenkins of jacksonville.. tired. Contacted general manager as a last resort after no response to several attempts to communicate my disssatiscation. Service experience was not good. The problem was known and the solution was routin response to several attempts to communicate my disssatiscation. Service experience was not good. The problem was known and the solution was routine. Had appt at 8am but was unable to pick up car til next day. Got runaround all day as to why the delay. One excuse after another. One service issue was ignored (I had a problem with my fob and they told me it was ok). Problem continued. Finally took fob to a battery store at the suggestion of a friend and all it needed was a battery. Service employees did not react positively to my complaints and made me feel that it was my fault and that I was unreasonable and just a chronic complainer. Would never visit this dealer for service or to buy a car (which I will probably do in the next 6-12 months). Love my Hyundai but may change to another make. More

I reached out to this dealership looking to purchase a palisade calligraphy. I was put through to the GM Phil Barber. Whose approach to selling a vehicle was to be inattentive, uninterested, unhelpful, un palisade calligraphy. I was put through to the GM Phil Barber. Whose approach to selling a vehicle was to be inattentive, uninterested, unhelpful, uninformed, and less focused on providing information about the vehicle than he was on speaking in a careless, rude and condescending manner. His tactic was to misinform me, push a Hyundai dealer service package as preemptory for purchase from the dealer, to tack on another 2k+ to already hyper-inflated price gouging being practiced by his dealer. Phil, your approach lacked respect, honesty, integrity, clarity. It wasn’t informative or educational. Customer education adds value and customer retention. I’m guessing your ownership isn’t interested in that. Phil this is 2023 I don’t need luck to find a vehicle I can purchase one online anywhere across the country where they have plenty of inventory and are willing to negotiate and value their customers and repeat Hyundai buyer.
