I was searching for a used Honda and found a Ridgeline at Herb Chambers of Burlington. I went down before work on Saturday to check it out. After a test drive I offered to put a deposit on the vehicle and return after work to finish the paper work. I was told they don’t take deposits. Strange? So I proceeded to complete a credit application and purchase agreement. The sales manager came to say hi and tell me the vehicle was traded by an 81 year old woman and she had it since it was new. Then, after they ran my credit, a hard pull, the price suddenly changed. It was now $10K more than the price on their website. The original price was at the KBB trade-in value. This is the target I typically use when shopping used cars. They never give you the actual trade-in value so they still make a decent markup at this price. Anyway, they hit my credit and would not sell me the vehicle at the advertised price. I was told the Manager, Gerry Salois, would call me on Monday to resolve the issue. He was in “meetings” all day on Monday according to my sales rep. At the end of the day on Tuesday, still no call. I was informed by email by Gerry that he was out of town and would call me on Saturday. Well, of course, the Ridgeline has been sold before Saturday came and still no call. Was this price and accident, maybe. But they sure didn’t handle it very well. Was it a bait and switch? Maybe. They discovered the error regarding the price AFTER they ran my credit. Either way, I would hate to have a problem with a car I purchased there if this is how they treat a potential buyer. I understand they have some good reviews. I judge a business by they way they handle issues. Everything is great until you have a problem. More
