Paul Thoman asked for a review, I am obliging him though I don't normally review transactions. My used car purchase process went well. I didn't reply on sales staff to select a vehicle, I found it online I don't normally review transactions. My used car purchase process went well. I didn't reply on sales staff to select a vehicle, I found it online using Car Guru, Autotrader, etc. This is the one issue I have, and I find a similar deceptive sales tactic whenever I end up buying a used vehicle. Dean's tactic is to advertise a price $1000 lower than asking price. When you use any of the online marketplace aggregators they will advertise this trick price. Price was a primary factor in my vehicle selection. Upon sitting down to determine the final sale price, I didn't want any "deal", I was happy with the asking price as shown after confirming my car was mechanically sound with no significant cosmetic/structural/covered-up damage. Then the truth came out about the price including an active military discount (this is an asterisk on their own website but I had relied on the aggregate sites for info). Obviously car sales is a shell game of markups and discounts, so I said I was here for the advertised non-sneaky price. He took my wife's (to be listed on the title as we had planned anyway) honorable discharge paperwork and OKed the discount despite her not being *active* military. Every other part of the process went well. There were several long walks back and forth from the used car building to new car showroom for various stages of paper work so bring comfortable shoes. Finance didn't try to sell a service contract, perhaps because this wasn't a Volvo or wasn't new enough or valuable enough to make good money on it, and since I do my own repairs I'm glad the conversation was spared. Paul worked quickly to show me the car on a service rack after discovering a fluid leak in the lot. We added a stipulation that the leak would be fixed to my satisfaction before taking ownership. The major cause of leak was repaired in one day. I put new hose clamps on a seeping cooler hose to fix the remainder of the leak. The purchase was outright without trade. More
