I purchased a certified preowned 2023 HONDA Passport in April of 2025. The first thing I noticed was there was no Oweners manual in the car. I mentioned it to sales rep. and he said no problem I will get u April of 2025. The first thing I noticed was there was no Oweners manual in the car. I mentioned it to sales rep. and he said no problem I will get u one. Never happened and it cost over$100 to replace it. Next I notice that the passenger headlight had a lot of moisture inside of it . Service deptartment said bring it in tomorrow. Then they told me that Honda had to approve the replacement and I would have to come back once they did. So that was 51 minute drive one way that I had to make twice. To continue, had a popping sound in the front steerage and sat there all day (7 hours ) when after my persistence because no one was communicating when they finally gave me a loaner. I look up the problem on the internet and when I returned the next day it was exactly that….???. They don’t even commicate with each other. Had a free oil change only to find out when I got home oil was dripping from the drain plug! Had my local guy tighten it because I didn’t want to waste 2 hours of my time again because they don’t do appointments. Their service department is deplorable. I will NEVER be back there ever again! Don’t waste your time shopping at this dealership! By far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in all my years of buying cars. We showed up on a Tuesday night at 5:50 p.m.—they close at 6—but all the doors were locked. I saw a salesman inside and basically had to beg him to open the door. He told me they were closed. I pointed out that I still had 10 minutes according to my watch. After more pushing, he reluctantly opened a car I was interested in so I could at least sit in it, but again said they were closed and refused a test drive. The only reason I came back the next morning was because I really liked the car. We also asked about another vehicle listed online, and the salesman had no idea about it. He later called back to say that the boss’s wife was driving it and we could see it the following morning after she dropped it off. When we showed up, the car was disgusting—filthy inside with food smeared on the door—and since it was a hybrid, it hadn’t even been charged. We asked them to charge it so we could test drive it properly, but when we returned at 6 p.m., it was still dirty and not fully charged. To make matters worse, we were bounced between three different salesmen since the original one was off. After finally test-driving, we told the last salesman that their vehicle was at the top of our list but we were considering options. His response? Just “Ok.” No effort to earn our business, no interest in helping us. We actually loved the vehicle, but because of how awful the experience was, we walked away and went to Tyler’s instead—where the salesman actually cared and wanted our business. More

My wife and I stopped by the show room just before 6:00pm. We both understand about last minute shoppers but our experience was completely unexpected from start to finish. The doors were locked before 6:00pm. We both understand about last minute shoppers but our experience was completely unexpected from start to finish. The doors were locked before closing and my wife had to coax the salesman to open the door. He made it clear that we couldn't do a test drive this late and the car we were looking at, because it was not a make they carry he knew nothing about. He did allow us to look inside and said to come back in the morning. The following morning we went back and were allowed to drive the car. In the mean time we found out they had a more desirable car that we wanted to see but the salesman knew nothing about. We later found out the owners wife was driving it and made arrangements for her to return the car for us to look at. My wife and I came back the next morning to test drive the car we were more interested in. The salesman that didn't want to wait on us from the start had a health issue. By the time we left after test driving a filthy car that wasn't charged we were passed off to two other salesmen. The last salesman we dealt with was to have the car charged when we returned later that evening. It was apparent that none of the salesmen knew anything about Jeeps because he claimed it was fully charged after two hours. Obviously that wasn't the case. We asked about if there was any way to hold the car for a day and their response was that we could put a non-refundable down payment of $500. We asked about recalls, detailing including paint touch up and was told "it is a used car. We price them accordingly and it is an as is sale". I have never seen a group of sales people so uninterested in selling me something in all my life. We didn't have all our eggs in one basket so in the middle of this 3 ring circus we had reached out to other dealers and private sellers. Ron Major of Tyler Chrysler, Jeep, Ram reached out to us, found us a car that we were looking for, had the manager buy it at auction and we put a down payment (that was refundable) in a matter of hours. Please....if your looking for a vehicle, look anywhere else but Basney Honda of Mishawaka. More

While the car is clean and well maintained appearance wise, the check engine light came on less than three days after purchase. The mechanic is now telling me the catalytic converter is bad on the car and need to be replaced to the tune of $3000. I was also concerned that intermittently the car pulls me to the left, so there may be alignment issues to address as well. I find it hard to believe that these issues failed to draw the attention of the dealership mechanics during inspection. Additionally, I left a voicemail for the salesmen two days ago and have yet to hear back from him. I bought this car on Saturday, August 2, 2025 and am already looking at paying over 20% of what I paid for it in repairs that were not disclosed to me at the time of purchase. More
