Michael LaFontaine launched his career in Michigan's bustling automotive industry in the 1960s when he started selling Volkswagen models. After over a decade in the business, Michael couldn't ignore his dream of seeing his name on the marquee. In 1980, that dream became a reality when Michael opened his first Toyota dealership in Dearborn. His goal was to build a team dedicated to offering a unique customer experience, treating everyone like family, and making the process of buying a vehicle rewarding, exciting, and fun. Michael's vision reached new heights in 1984 when his wife, Maureen, opened a second dealership in Milford. Sharing her husband's passion and dream, Maureen put her heart and soul into building a dealership with a small-town feel. Maureen's success was unparalleled, as she sold more Cadillac, Pontiac, and GMC models in the first month than the dealership had sold the previous year. This marked a pivotal point for the LaFontaines and laid the groundwork for the LaFontaine Automotive Group.
