July, then waited until September for the car to arrive. When it arrived, Joseph Toyota tried to back out of selling it to me. They said they didn't want to sell me the car because I complained about their horrible data privacy form, though I did sign their form after I complained about it. It took me two days to complete what should have been a simple transaction. I think the dealer's real motive for trying to back out of the sale was that they could have got more money for this new Corolla Hybrid if they sold it to someone else who might walk in, since otherwise the waiting list is still months long. Anyhow, I did eventually complete the purchase the second time I tried. When I got my new car, Joseph Toyota did not set up my Internet or Sirius XM or safety features for me. They just bum-rushed me off the lot. This was the fifth car I purchased new at Joseph Toyota since 2003. It's also the last one I will ever purchase there. I was treated very disrespectfully, and the whole episode had the appearance of dishonesty. I had good experiences at Joseph Toyota for more than 20 years. But there has been turnover in their staff, and they are not what they used to be. Joseph Toyota has jumped the shark.

Hello Ken, we respectfully disagree with your speculation about the deal. Because we are regulated like banks, we must comply with the Privacy of Consumer Financial Information Rule of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Federal Trade Commission’s Privacy Rule, as stated on the print copy of our Privacy Policy form. In other words, we are obligated to disclose to you in writing how we treat your personal information and have written proof that you were thus informed. When you were initially asked to sign this form, you refused, argued with staff, and threatened further action. At that point, you were advised by Finance that we could not sell you the vehicle. After further discussion, you signed the Privacy Policy form and left the dealership. Finance prepared and sent all documents to you to sign electronically. This action facilitated your return the next day to complete the deal in about fifteen minutes. We thank you for your purchase. Kindly direct any questions to our Customer Relations Manager, Sandra Pomeraning, at (513) 385-1800 ext. 8240. Thank you.

Hello Ken, we continue to respectfully disagree with your assessment of the deal and Privacy Policy Form. The latter has been approved by the dealership's legal team and its terms thoroughly explained to you. At any time of the deal, you were given the opportunity to decline. We regret we couldn't reach a satisfying conclusion, but please be in touch if there's anything further you'd like to discuss.

Thanks for doubling down on the dishonesty and disrespect. In fact: (1) I never threatened any legal action or any other kind of action; (2) I signed your horrible "data no-privacy" form BEFORE anyone from Finance refused to sell me the vehicle (The guy from Finance would never have given me a chance to sign it if I had not already done so); (3) I left the dealership because it was closing time and you still refused to sell me the vehicle. Also, FWIW, I didn't object to being informed about how you treat my personal information, or about acknowledging in writing that you informed me. I complained about what your form actually disclosed: that you will treat my personal information very shabbily and disrespectfully, by selling my private data to companies who want market goods and services to me. That is a terrible thing to do to your customers. I was right to complain that it's a shady business practice, which it is. The one and only honest thing Joseph Toyota told me is that they don't want my business. Thanks for that.
Good friendly assistance and advice as I prepared to
purchase my car or lease another car. Never felt pressured which I appreciated.
