I had selected the car and put a deposit on it as I did not have adequate time to complete the purchase on that day. I scheduled an alternate day to complete the transaction. I was paying cash, yet I waited an inordinate amount of time for an available “finance manager “. I have extensive experience run a business as a former CFO for a large company. There was no excuse for this execution. Jonathan Bixby was attentive and excellent, however, it was clear he had no influence on the poorly run business. My wife and I made the 44 mile drive (one way) to Lexus of Sarasota with the intent of purchasing a new 2024 Lexus RX350 as we literally worked out all the numbers via email/texts before leaving our house. of Sarasota with the intent of purchasing a new 2024 Lexus RX350 as we literally worked out all the numbers via email/texts before leaving our house. We arrived around 3pm and after my wife took the vehicle for a test drive, we informed our Sales Rep we would like to purchase the vehicle. That was at 4pm. We were fortunate enough to be in a position to pay cash for the vehicle. The paperwork was drawn up and our Dales Rep brought out the initial invoice for a quick review before heading into the finance office. I noticed the $1000 military discount I was promised was not included on the invoice. I was then informed that since I was paying cash, I could not get the military discount. Instead of just reducing the price $1000, I had to go through the process of submitting a loan application through Lexus Financial to get the discount financing only a small portion in order to qualify for the discount. The loan was approved allowing us to wrap everything up. Or so we thought. We were then informed by our Sales Rep that a dealer meeting was called and that we would have to wait until it was over to proceed. We waited to a little after 6pm. The dealership knew we wanted to register the vehicle in SC as we split our time between our homes in FL & SC. Documentation was requested by Lexus Financial to prove we owned property in SC which we provided but everything we provided (Electric bill, paid property tax receipt, Deed) was not sufficient. Reminder, all of this in order to get the $1000 military discount. The Finance Manager finally decided to proceed with signing all the documentation and allowing us to forward additional documents after returning home (within 24 to 48 hours). We signed all the paperwork then proceeded outside to take part in a delivery orientation with one of the technology representatives. We were the last ones at the dealership at this point. An abbreviated orientation was done and we were encouraged to come back to the dealership for a more thorough one at our convenience. During the technology orientation, the rep noticed no gas was in the vehicle. We waited for the vehicle to be gassed up. Lexus of Sarasota boasts about the Sarasota Lexus Advantage program which includes some nice dealer performed options including a protective screen placed on the large 14 inch screen. It was not on there. Also, the Lexus detail/cleaning kit that is part of the plan was not in the vehicle. After 5 1/2 hours at the dealership, we left for the 44 mile return trip home. As of this review (9/2/24), the screen protector has not come in to the dealership but we did make the 88 mile round trip drive to take part in another delivery orientation. On a side note - I received a email from Chris Lima (General Manager) to reach out to provide feedback on our purchase experience. I called and left a voicemail. I received a return call/voicemail about a week later apologizing for the delay as he was in Europe. While at the dealership doing a more thorough orientation, I asked to speak with him since I was at the dealership. I was informed he was not there so I called and left him another voicemail while standing in the dealership. (that on 8/28/24). I am still waiting on a response. I wanted to wait to speak with him before submitting this review but have spent enough time on this transaction. More
