I was about 200 miles out of state and my Highlander would not start. An alarming message came on the dash stating low brake pressure, stop immediately. I did not know if there was a problem with the brakes or the battery or both. There were no Toyota dealers for about 30 miles so I called Bredeman where the car was purchased and had always been serviced. The service technician just blew me off and would not tell me if the car was safe to drive on the toll road which has a 70 mile/hour speed limit. He told me to have the car towed to the dealer, Since this was out of state and 200 miles away, this was not a practical solution, I had purchased a new battery there less than a year before this happened. I got the car jumped and got to an automotive parts store. The battery was dead so I bought a new battery and managed to drive back to Chicago. I took the car to Bredeman to have the battery and car serviced as the new battery died. The service manager told me they would not honor the 2 year warranty because I went else where to buy a new battery. So I agreed to pay $170 to have the battery checked and signed the paperwork. I went to the waiting room and after about 10 minutes the service manager came and called me out and said he decided that he would not service my car. I said I already signed the paperwork agreeing to pay the $170 charge. He repeated that he decided that he would not service my car, just take the keys and leave. So I took the keys and left. When I purchased the car I was bullied into buying a service contract for more than $1000 extra over the purchase price. Since they are refusing to service my car I doubt that this would be honored. More
