My wife and myself are Toyota people, plain and simple. I have been researching new Rav4s and talking with the Toyota dealer where we buy all our cars and getting ready to buy a new Rav4. We had already done test drives in the Rav4 knew it, liked it but was curious as to what was the comparable car was and the Hyundai Tucson was one. We have been thinking of buying a new rav4 since our 2008 was getting up in miles and age. The 08 rav4 is still running strong as I write this. I had already been in talks with the Toyota dealer, what model, what color and the price. Since I'm a first responder firefighter and medic and the Toyota dealer owner is a firefighter as well so he gives a really good deal. We were on way to the Toyota dealer up north when we decided to jump off the parkway and go to Lester glenn just to test drive the Tucson for a hands on comparison. We met Jay Jackson outside and he immediately greeted us. I had told my wife as soon as he says some stupid car sales nonsense Im walking back to the car and we leave. Jay did nothing of the sort. He understood the assignment and approached the situation like a person, not a trained circus animal blowing smoke up my backside for a sale. We explained we were just here to look and feel the Tucson. We have no intention of buying a Hyundai. Again Jay understood the assignment. Without hesitation he went got some keys and let me and my wife dig around the car. Jay played it right, he didn't push only threw out some info where he needed to. I was texting the Toyota rep letting them know we had stopped at a Hyundai dealer to compare cars but would be leaving soon. The entire time I was waiting for the smoke blowing to start. We knew what we had with the rav4 so any reason to walk and we were gone. it never happened. We looked at everything, we found some things where the rav4 shined but we could over look them since we have a highlander for the family car. We wanted to look at the Tucson SEL convenience since it was close the rav4 XLE Premium that we had already spect out. Jay was more than happy to get some keys. We went inside to talk numbers and the inside of Lester glenn is nice. The waiting room is spacious and comfortable. We crunched some numbers and Jay and his manager did come in $1,259 over what the rav4 XLE Premium was quoted and we almost walked, But Jay pointed out the 10 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper which kept us planted in the seat. We went over the numbers and came to an agreement. We had to meet with Darren Applegate in F&I and at this point my wife and me both said this guy tries any xx we walk. F&I managers always try and upsell all the garbage and overpriced crap you can get anywhere but they try the FOMO and scare buyers into nonsense. Darren didn't do any of that, not even all weather floor matts. Darren went over all the add ons and upsells but knew it was a waste of time. Darren is either a really good xx artist who should win a Emmy or he is a genuine person. We both think Darren is a genuine person who has both the dealership and the customers best interest up front with finalizing the sale. In the end as we signed the paperwork we realized we didn't have a checkbook or anything since we didn't plan on buying a Hyundai. We had to go to the bank get a bank check and come back to finish the sale. Most times you can look around at car salesmen and see the xxxxxxx just oozes out of them. I didn't get that impression from most of the sales people. A couple of them looked like they were completely xxxxxxxx and would give a drowning person a glass of water for commission sale. But most looked like good people. Jay Jackson was and is a great salesmen. Absolutely if your looking at a Hyundai dealer this is the dealership to go to. More

Went in on a recommendation by Jim Grace at Lester Glenn Subaru (Personal Friend) - Asked Jim Who was I going to like dealing with (Jim knows I do not like push salesman, Strong arm Closing managers, ect.)
