Positive buying experience, lousy Service experience for unresolved initial safety defect (inoperable traction control). I had a great experience buying a new Civic Si but when I scheduled an appointment t unresolved initial safety defect (inoperable traction control). I had a great experience buying a new Civic Si but when I scheduled an appointment to fix my car's initially inoperable traction control I saw another side of this dealership. Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk service appointment reminder states: "Your reservation is a time for write-up and consultation with your Service Advisor. The actual time your vehicle goes into the shop is totally dependent on the extent of the work involved on the vehicles that are already here." That statement in writing is very telling of this dealership's attitude regarding your time and and outward disclosure that they do not actually schedule when your car will be serviced until after you are already sitting waiting. I was amazed to read it in print in their appointment reminders. My experience felt like a trip to a crowded Emergency Room even though I provided info in advance and was given an appointment. What other business can get away with such open disregard for their customer's time? While scheduling my appointment the two people I spoke with at Herb Chambers of Seekonk confirmed that they can diagnose my inoperable traction control without a warning light. I specifically asked if I need to wait for snowy/slippery conditions and they assured me that their mechanics can diagnose the issue. But upon arrival for my appointment a real-service tech told me that without a warning light they will need to take my new car out and rev-up the engine and drop the clutch to test - he did not appear to be joking. Upon voicing my concern of the damage they would do to my car, he acknowledge it could potentially damage my new car when they 'launch' it to test. Additionally he informed me that the complementary first oil change that I also scheduled will not be free since my oil change light is not yet on (another thing apparently not known by the people you are allowed to speak with while scheduling). So be aware that YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE BUT MERELY AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE PRIVILEDGE OF SPEAKING WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR. And on top of all that I asked if they could at least scan my car for codes and he told me it would be at very least an additional hour until a mechanic could even get to my car even though I had a scheduled appointment. Note: scanning codes is merely plugging a hand held code reader in under the dash on the drivers side, just a minute of time to do which I had already done at home prior to going in. The result of my 90 mile round trip commute and 3 hours was that I could not get the complementary first service, they were unwilling to properly test my inoperable traction control unless they 'lauched' my car potentially causing damage, and I would need to wait at least an additional hour for someone to plug a code reader in to scan for error codes. I do wonder how they measure their employees and service appointments and how my visit ranks in their statistics. Note: when I initially called there was resistance to connect me to an actual service advisor and after connecting I was afforded very little time before being shut-down and transferred back to the receptionist to schedule an appointment. SEEKONK HONDA'S SERVICE IS STRUCTURED TO PROTECT THEIR TIME AND DISREGARD YOUR TIME. I traveled 90 miles round trip and wasted 3 hours of my time for nothing and even after finding one of their managers the response I received is "sorry but the people you talk to on the phone are only receptionists and they do not know...". While still at the dealership I asked to speak with the service manager who could not be located. I then asked to receive a call from the service manager but they have not yet called. I have already created a case with Honda America. More
