Buyer Beware! My parents recently came to Island Kia to find out about options to end their existing lease a few months early. They were already on their 2nd lease My parents recently came to Island Kia to find out about options to end their existing lease a few months early. They were already on their 2nd lease from the same dealer and wanted to change models from a Sorrento to a Sportage. My parents are elderly and regrettably, I was not with them when the new lease was negotiated. The new lease that they signed for had a markup almost $10,000 on the sticker price ($33,000 for what should have been a $23,000 vehicle) and had numerous additional fees in the "Amount Due at Signing" section of their lease agreement. My parents were talked into coming out of pocket almost $7,000 down with a monthly payment of $300 on a 36 month lease. Typically, without any negotiation and walking in as a first time buyer, a Sportage lease with similar options to my parents should be around $2,000 down and about $280/month. Purchasing a car typically involves negotiation, but it was very apparent that the sales staff and managers saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of elderly people and walked all over them. I hope Island Kia enjoys their commission. They should be ashamed of themselves for using such dishonest and manipulative sales tactics on the elderly. More
