We purchased a used VW at BMW of Fairfield in August. Although we like the car, our experience was horrible – certainly not the Gold Star Service they emphasized during our visit. After multiple conversa Although we like the car, our experience was horrible – certainly not the Gold Star Service they emphasized during our visit. After multiple conversations via email, regular mail, and phone for 6 weeks, we were unable to resolve the issues with them. BMW of Fairfield is Not Trustworthy. We should have read the reviews on Yelp before going there. We were hesitant to agree to a purchase the day we test drove the car in August because this Dealer would not allow a 5-day return policy as many other dealers in the area do, so that it is possible to have the car checked by a mechanic. We spent a considerable amount of time checking everything we could think of with the car, but there was no way to raise the car and look underneath. Our sales rep “Big H” Henry Johnson said don’t worry “we won’t screw you over on this”. Further, Hector Ybanes, the Pre-Owned Car Sales Manager at BMW of Fairfield said he knew the former owner personally and that they always had repairs taken care of and it was in excellent shape. Finally, the Sales Manager Colt Davis also stated that they want customers to be happy and excellent service is important to them. Unfortunately, we believed them. We took the car to our mechanic to look into repairing a minor issue we had accepted and to check for any other problems that we weren’t aware of. Within 5 minutes of putting the car on a lift our mechanic noticed a leaking water pump and leaking oil pan that were obvious, long-term problems due to evidence of corrosion. He said the leaking water pump is a serious issue that needs to be repaired soon. We then took the car to our local VW Service Center and they told us repairs would cost over $2200. Both our mechanic and our local VW Dealer said BMW of Fairfield should take care of the leaking water pump and leaking oil pan problems since BMW claimed the car was well maintained and in excellent condition at the time of sale. We sent an email with photos to Henry Johnson, Hector Ybanes, and Colt Davis describing the problems with the car to the email addresses posted on the BMW of Fairfield website. Immediately we received error messages back indicating that all email addresses were invalid. We were able to locate another email address for Colt Davis and forwarded our message to him. Later that day Colt contacted us and was apologetic about the issues with our car. He said he would reach out to the Fairfield VW Dealer (owned by BMW of Fairfield) to check on the pre-purchase service records and get back to us in the morning. Unfortunately, there was no response. Colt said he preferred email contact and we emailed him periodically to ask about the status of repairs to our car but did not receive a response from him or his team. We even printed out a copy of our email message with photos and physically mailed a letter to Henry Johnson and Hector Ybanes. We asked them to email us or call us. No response. Finally, after about 4 weeks we started calling Colt and eventually reached him and he said we needed to talk to Hector who would call us. No phone call came. After leaving phone messages for Hector, we received an email from him indicating that BMW of Fairfield cannot be responsible for repairs after the car is sold. We called Hector to remind him that the problems with the water pump and oil pan were chronic issues of the car before the sale and that he claimed the car was in excellent condition at the time of sale. He did not decline saying that, but reiterated that BMW of Fairfield’s policy is that they are not responsible for repairs after the sale of a car. The BMW of Fairfield website still lists invalid email addresses. For a company claiming Gold Star service it would seem like a good idea to tell customers that the email addresses on their website are incorrect. Since they didn’t give us any contact info, it appears they didn’t want us to contact them. In summary, we are extremely disappointed. More

Purchased a certified pre owned vehicle. Gave me an outstanding deal on a trade. Very happy with that however my whole experience wasn’t perfect. Their clean guys washed the car yes, but it Gave me an outstanding deal on a trade. Very happy with that however my whole experience wasn’t perfect. Their clean guys washed the car yes, but it was not detailed. Water spots everywhere, interior was dirty. I was shocked that they didn’t even remember to fill the fuel tank, it was in the red almost. They misplaced one of the keys, it’s been over 7 days now and I am still waiting for an expected date to receive my second key which is required as it was a certified BMW. More
