Outdoor Price Change, George the Finance Manager tried to do a switch and bait on us on an outdoor price negotiated over several weeks with Ralph via e-mail, with a deal sheet that showed exact breakdown of do a switch and bait on us on an outdoor price negotiated over several weeks with Ralph via e-mail, with a deal sheet that showed exact breakdown of all items. How unfortunate that he does not understand that what the term “out the door” means. Or at least, that is what he claimed. We walked out on the deal (he was willing to let us AFTER agreeing on a price, completing a deposit, driving an hour to the dealership, doing a credit app), all FEES should be accounted for in an OTD printed price as quoted, letting a customer walk for $223.10 doc fee that you allegedly did not take account for is shameful. George might have a few decades on me, but I am not a fool. These dealerships, run numbers and cushion their fees appropriately before they agree to an out the door price. If I didn’t routinely purchase brand new vehicles and negotiate all of these online prior to driving to the dealership, then I wouldn’t know any better. But he is the first one to commit this sort of distasteful maneuver. They do this job, day in and day out. The know what doc fees to account before you get based on a vehicle, remember, they’ve sold that exact same brand and model before to someone else. A brand new 2023 Lincoln aviator Grand Touring that has been sitting on Jenkins lot for over 500 days, will likely celebrate a 2nd birthday at the dealership. This is a warning to other looking to buy a vehicle. If you agree to OTD price in writing, do not under any circumstances succumb to the pressure of being charged 1 cent more in ANY sales office (assuming you did NOT opt for any other products the FM offers you on the spot). Be smart, do your research before you step foot inside a dealership. I would’ve escalated it on the spot with upper management but this particular dealership is sparsely staffed, (i.e. George is the final person in finance, no finance director or sales manager). But unfortunately, it was my first time at the dealership in person after countless weeks of back-and-forth only to find out this the quality of in person interactions to expect at Jenkins finance office.
