Took me awhile to process what happened, but I think I finally understand how this all fell apart. I had test drove earlier in the day and they handed me an offer that was $26,000 or so. I asked about the financing incentive and they misunderstood thinking I was talking about the federal tax credit. That's when this all fell apart. What I was actually talking about was that their website showed a deal where if I financed through them I would get an additional $8500 off. So I applied online, called them and texted them the online application and the reference number. When I showed up they just kept looking at the website and couldn't get through their heads that I never was talking about the federal tax incentive. I was trying to get the financing incentive. I tried to show them my application and so did my brother the next day, but they were stuck thinking we were trying to double dip the federal tax incentive. Wish they had calmed down for five seconds and just looked at my online application. Could have saved a lot of trouble. More
