July 28, 2026 I am writing to share feedback about my recent vehicle purchase experience. Buying a car is a significant investment, and I believe customers should feel welcomed, respected, informed, and recent vehicle purchase experience. Buying a car is a significant investment, and I believe customers should feel welcomed, respected, informed, and confident throughout every step of the process because first impressions matter. On June 24, 2026, after visiting three other dealerships, I decided to try Jim Butler Kia where luckily, I found the vehicle that I wanted to purchase. Unfortunately, however, my experience was less than ideal throughout the entire car buying process. I would like to point out that my salesman whose name is Cory Shaw was very courteous and polite! Being new at his job, Cory needed to get clarification and attempted to ask two of his co-workers seated just to the right of him for assistance. I didn’t appreciate how they ignored him when he was trying to ask them a simple question. Thankfully, an older and most gracious gentleman on the left of him ended up assisting him. My next unfortunate experience while at the dealership involves Tyler in finance. Once I decided on that particular vehicle, Tyler said that if I was serious, I had to put $500.00 down. I gave him my credit card. When I saw the receipt, it had a $10.00 service fee added. I asked why was I charged a fee. He informed me, after the fact, that the cost for using a credit card is passed on to the customer. I said, “you should have told me that before I gave you my credit card. Then stated, “I want a refund. I believe in transparency.” Tyler went on to inform me that Jim Butler works with 45 lenders and depending on my credit score would get me the lowest interest rate. I ended up finding a better interest rate on my own. So much for those 45 lenders! Also, during this meeting the sales team kept pushing the Jim Butler 10 years or 100,000 miles powertrain warranty. I asked if I could go to any Kia dealer for service and was told yes. After I signed the paperwork the very next day however, I was then told that in order to keep the warranty, my vehicle would have to be serviced through Jim Butler ONLY. Having to work Monday through Friday, I now have to take off work in order to honor the warranty whenever my car needs servicing because Jim Butler is closed on Saturdays!! Again, lack of transparency. Not only do first impressions last, but attention to detail is also a vital part of the process. I noticed while test driving the vehicle that the fuse box cover was missing and mentioned that fact to Cory. He assured me that he would get one. However, the next day when I went in to pick up my vehicle and complete the paperwork… still NO FUSE BOX COVER. Cory said he would order one at no cost to me. To make matters worse, I get a frantic phone call from Cory explaining that Tyler needed me to come back to the dealership to sign the back of the check that I had given them even though I had initially asked if I had signed correctly and was told yes. I asked about my $510.00 visa refund and about the fuse box cover. Cory informed me that it was ordered and that they did credit my account. The dilemma continues! When I went back on July 3rd to sign the check, my account still had not been credited as previously promised nor was the fuse box cover on site. But magically after I signed the check, my refund appeared via receipt and the fuse box cover showed up in less than an hour. Why couldn’t all of that been taken care of as promised before? I held up my end of this bargain from the beginning to the end. I AM THE BUYER!! Last by not least, despite being new and all of the mishaps out of his control, Cory was very respectful and accommodating. He filled my tank up and offered to pay for my first oil change at his expense and in my opinion, will make a great salesman in the future. More
