Questionable mechanic Told the tires were dry rotted. To hese tires have not see the light of day for a long time. Rechecked them . Aged yes rotted no. Quick but perfect oil change and service I went and got my oil caned and it was free because I bought my car there ... they were super friendly and quick ! Some people will say an engine is an engine but when you work constantly on a certain type I like using mechanics that specialize in my specific auto. Very Positive Experience My 12V was not charging my phone. I assumed a blown fuse. I tried to get an appointment at the dealership where I usually go in Glastonbury, and they My 12V was not charging my phone. I assumed a blown fuse. I tried to get an appointment at the dealership where I usually go in Glastonbury, and they wanted me to wait for three weeks to get this fixed! which I can not do because I am going to be moving my mom next week - she is out of state and I need my phone charged! so I contacted Columbia Ford which is the same distance away but in the other direction. I was treated with courtesy, and given a prompt appointment. My estimate was under the actual charge, and the problem was diagnosed and resolved in under an hour. Friendly staff. Nice little luncheonette to grab a coffee and more if you so desire. More

Very pleasant employees I have now bought 3 cars from Gates. The employees are always very pleasant. I would recommend more of an initial outreach to repeat customers to reward their loyalty and encourage them to make their next purchase there, as well. I wasn't offered any sort of reduction, or increase benefit, and when I mentioned my disappointment, I was asked if I had asked for any. If my continued patronage is valued, I shouldn't have to ask, it should be offered. For me, the monthly payments, and not the total price tag, were my main concern, and I made it clear that I was looking to keep the payments around $150. When the financing came in at the top of the forecast range, no effort was made to lower it, until I expressed my dissatisfaction. Ultimately, the amount offered for my trade was increased, and the price lowered, for a combined $500, which was appreciated, but I would have felt more valued as a customer if I hadn't had to haggle for it. I don't pick up the car until Tuesday, so I can't yet express an opinion on the car, but I am optimistic, and believe that I will come to Gates for my next car, as much for the employees, as anything else. I also think a more realistic estimate of times, when getting a customer to come in to fill out paperwork, would be an improvement. Much like when I closed on my Wife's Kia, I was asked to come in for about 1/2 an hour, to complete paperwork, and it ended up taking about 1-1/2 hours. I expected it, this time, but I still found it annoying. Like everyone, my time is valuable, and I would feel that the dealership felt the same if they gave me an honest expectation of how long it will take to get things done. These are meant to be suggestions to improve the next customer's experience, more than a complaint. Ultimately, I ended up buying a car for more than I wanted to spend, with features I didn't want, and I hope that I get as much out of it as I did my last car. If I do, I will be back for my next car, I am sure. More
