Well, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished. We gave the deal of a a lifetime to Mr. Patterson on a Tundra and this is where we end up. The tonneau is a hard tri-fold tonneau. They are not waterproof. We explained this to Mr. Patterson. He is correct though, whomever had the cover off last (don't know if it was Mr. Patterson or not) did not re-connect the drains that run from the tonneau out the back wall of the bed. This does solve a lot of water entering the bed but does not make it water tight. As for the cover breaking. To look at this entirely, one would have to understand that if a dealership can honestly get something covered under warranty it is in the dealerships best interest to do so. The factory pays more than customers do and it's a win - win because we get paid and the customer doesn't do the paying. In this case the hooks were pulled from the metal by force. The incident happened just after (or during) the storm we had right before Christmas. It is our belief ice or debris lodged itself enough to keep the hooks from removing as designed. At this point someone applied force to open the second panel causing the screws to rip from the metal. If anyone has ever pulled a screw from aluminum or sheet metal the hole will at the very least bow out if not tear. In this case the seeded screws were ripped from their resting place. This is not a factory defect and had we turned this into warranty the factory would laugh at us and charge us for the repair. Now, I am all for helping someone or taking a chance if there is some possibility of another series of events to have caused the damage. This is not one of those cases. We explained to Mr. Patterson the item was not warrantable because it was not defective, debris or ice froze the second panel in place and it was forcefully dislodged. He did not accept this and proceeded to tell us that either Toyota or Summit Toyota is paying for it. We explained that would not be the case and he would not accept that. I requested that he take it to another Toyota dealership and get a second opinion, he refused. Mr Patterson was banned because despite how many ways and how many times we explained we were not paying for the repair due to the nature of how it became broken, he would not accept that and aggressively stated "like I said, either Toyota or Summit is paying for the repair, not me", over and over. He said he was coming down to talk about it (aggressively) and I stated there was nothing more to discuss. He would just keep repeating we or Toyota was paying for it. We do not pay for repairs caused by misuse, intentional or not. We wish Mr Patterson the best of luck and hope he still at the very least appreciates the several thousands of dollars we saved him on his Tundra.

This dealer ship is a joke and the GM they have running it they band me from the dealer ship because they are ripping people off and they don't want to fix the tonneau cover or hold up to there words that are in text about getting a year of Toyota connect when purchasing the vehicle a day after I purchased it I was told o sorry I was reading that off a paper they do not hold up to there word and to be band for saying I don't care who pays for my cover to get fixed and il be up after I get off work. That is insane I have everything in text I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP . READ THE REVIEWS THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE TO TO SOMEONE I should have read the reviews before going here .

Customer is accurate - this is not the first time we have not warrantied a repair that is not warrantable. Happens quit often actually. Some customers take the news gracefully and some, well you know. Everyone hopes their repair will be covered. Much like when a rodent chews through wires under the dash, not covered. A tonneu cover that was broken by force (either by man or nature) is not covered. No matter how many reviews and false accusations of ripping people off, that will not change those facts And actually our reviews are inline or above most Toyota dealers. We are a three time Toyota President's Award winning dealership that only about 10% of Toyota dealerships in the nation earn! This comes from exceptional customer service, customer retention and selling more than our fair share of the area. Dealerships that "rip people off" do not earn such a prestigious award!

The cover is defective it ripped from the screws just from buckling the buckles witch is what you are supposed to do the force from buckling it is when it ripped from the screws that is 100% a defective part when something breaks when it is being used as advertised or intended and it breaks that is a defective part. You can say what you want but this dealership does shady business.

The one year of Toyota connect that I was told I got for a year didn't get that either didn't find that out untill after I purchased the truck and was trying to set it up the next day when I was told I get it for a year that's what I expect but I didn't. yeah that's ripping people off.

And that's where the facts aren't facts. What you have stated over and over again is physically impossible. The screws and associated hooks are pointed up in the air, before the final fold is at a point to buckle. Should they have jammed for some reason (ice/debris) it would take superman to apply enough force on the short buckles to apply enough pressure to elevate the opposite side and not only lift the opposite sidee of the 35-40lb tonneau cover that's almost 4 ft wide on a flat surface AND rip the screw out. How it's shady that we can't get your repair covered under warranty is beyond us. We will no longer respond to your false accusations and slander. Good Day!

There is nothing false you think you no what happen but your 100% wrong and the facts are as follows the panel ripped from the screws when I buckled it down fact 2 if the cover was not folded correctly the buckles would not have been close enough to buckle again as soon as I buckled it the panel ripped from the screws and i have everything in text and again being told I got a year of Toyota connect and then finding out the next day after I purchased the truck and no one making that right is pretty messed up and is a very bad way to do business especially when nobody's even making that right. THAT IS BAD BUSINESS
