Went in to trade my 2023 Telluride AWD SX with 11K miles for a newer 2024 AWD SX Prestige. I explained we don't need to waste each other's time, can someone value my trade in asap, I handed my keys over and for a newer 2024 AWD SX Prestige. I explained we don't need to waste each other's time, can someone value my trade in asap, I handed my keys over and thought that process would be started. I was driven to the lot. He encircled the lot for about 5 minutes, with Alex pressing the car alarm to find it. We kept circling the lot and I stated your inventory showed only 4 artic blue, So we just looked for the color and SX rims. The alarm didn't go off, as the battery was dead. We just went back to the dealership. No test drive. So, I said again, the numbers need to work. Where are we with the trade in vs the wanted vehicle? We waited of course to find out, and finally the number's guy comes over. Now, I, of course, understand that even one year apart can be $15K to 20K difference between trade for the same model. I wanted one step up from SX to SX Prestige. The issue is, I went in there with a number for my trade in ($41K), that was an average of reputable websites. They do not honor any we'll pay you $2K above the KBB that was printed on their event flyer. He says we'll offer a lowball of $8K under your ask at $33K (I owe $19K). The new vehicle sticker is $52K. Now, add in "dealership options" at a mind blowing $3992 ( which the number's guy said hard costs are $1400). So I said before you show me any sheets, here is where I'm at again. The trade in, plus military, and loyalty discounts I will happily go as high as $29K difference, after all is said and done. He breaks out the sheet. The difference ended up being $46K!!! I said no reason to waste your time or mine any further. Please return my keys. To over and over, no thanks, keys please. We waited 20 minutes and instead of key 2 a different individual comes over and said we missed this package that was on your vehicle, just give us a few. I said no again, just need the keys. "Missing" a package seems crazy to believe, as the second you put in the VIN or license plate into whatever sytem it shows everything. I again ask repeatedly for my keys. The only reason I got them is I stated I forgot my smart water in the car. Sadly here comes a whole different sheet of numbers and excuses on why they didn't start at the lowest. It didnt matter, my wife was done at this point. We said we were leaving and no thank you. The one manager proceeded to start the sir routine. Give us a few more minutes. I said you showing me a sheet as I'm walking out that went from $46K owed to $35600. Hilarious right? Still not even close to $29K. I said sorry not interested. He followed me out. I stopped him and stated, ya know, I did this before when I was here getting maintenance on my 2020 Kia. Your offer was $9K lower in trade in than at the time Friendly Kia (now Ken Ganley) for the exact same vehicles and options. Take care. We left. Please don't go here for anything but maintenance if necessary. There are plenty more Kia dealerships out there. More
