This started out as being a good dealership to work with, until the missed details and issues were noticed. There was a chip in the windshield that was supposed to be fixed but wasn't. At first I thought no until the missed details and issues were noticed. There was a chip in the windshield that was supposed to be fixed but wasn't. At first I thought no big deal, I'll swing by a glass place and have that taken care of. Last I knew that was only $50-$80. Well, it's $180 anymore, so Mike Murphy Ford should have really taken care of that. I also pretty quickly noticed the top of the windows that sit in the window channel wasn't cleaned either. I figured no big deal, their detailers probably just aren't that good. Then I noticed they didn't clean around the fuel fill, didn't clean the marker off the back seat, that there's gunk right at the base of the turn signal arm, my daughter noticed the gunk in the rear cup holders, and there's gunk on top of the rear seat. It seems they don't detail under the hood anymore either, as evident by the thick dirt all over the engine bay. I did get the new tires I asked for, but they were not balanced well. There's a tire vibration that kicks in at 65mph and is well felt at about 70mph. I've had enough vehicles over the years to know what a tire out of balance feels like. That alone, no big deal. Good techs are hard to find anymore. Some of these things being smaller issues all presented as no big deal, but when I saw the dirt all over everything under the hood enough was enough and I called them. Getting ahold of someone just by calling was a voicemail expedition, but they did call me back fairly quickly. I was told by Anthony that they don't detail under the hood. They wanted me to take it back over so they can rebalance the tires, and we found pretty much immediately was about the only time that worked well between us. So, this single father gathers up his kids to get over there, only to get a call along the way stating I'll have to make an appointment. They do want to take care of the tire balancing and get the windshield fixed, but at this point is it worth my time to have to load up kids, take time out of my day, and wait around for them to take care of what should have been taken care of before I picked the vehicle up? I suppose time will tell. So in summary, this started out as a good experience until the missed items and issues started creeping up. Under the hood being covered in dirt was the last straw to where I felt they needed to know what's going on here. I'm not fond of the fact that I, a single father of two, could easily spend $500 in the first few hundred miles taking care of items that should have already been taken care of. Windshield being fixed, $180. Tires balanced at a reputable shop, $175. A real detail being done that isn't just a mild cleaning, $150. In short, Mike Murphy Ford now appears like any other dealer. Look over everything to ensure all the normal stuff is done at the time of sale, and get everything in writing. Sure, I'm in a place in my life where all of this isn't that big of an issue for me, but the last thing I want to do with a new to me vehicle is have to spend time and money taking care of issues the dealership should have taken care of in the first place. My sales person Anthony and my finance person Todd were both great! Anthony was extremely responsive from the moment I called to ask about the vehicle I wanted, and met my needs with every single thing both great! Anthony was extremely responsive from the moment I called to ask about the vehicle I wanted, and met my needs with every single thing I asked for (which may have been a lot); even when my requests were “outside of the norm”. What I appreciated about Todd was his down to earth personality and sense of humor while still being extremely professional and knowledgeable in his field. He is truly a people person and an expert at what he does. I have zero complaints about the staff I worked with!! So here are my only negatives about the dealership itself. 1. The glove compartment bibles. Apparently they are placed in vehicles routinely at this dealership. While some may appreciate this, I myself didn’t. If I could have simply thrown it away I wouldn’t even be writing this. However, they actually apply them to the owners manual book, and it leaves a residue all over it when you remove it. I would have preferred my leather cover to remain intact. The Bible’s may also offend some, as everyone does not practice the same religion or have the same beliefs. 2. They do not do the vehicle registration/licensing as part of the overall purchase and have the license plates mailed to you as is routinely done at other dealerships. This could be quite costly to some people to have to come out of pocket to pay the fee, after the fact and not have it rolled up into the loan itself like it normally is. This said, they did offer to roll it up into the loan and then mail me a check for the cost separately. This is a nice gesture and I’m sure would come in handy for many. My preference overall would be to not have to go perform this action on my own and have my license plates mailed directly to me as I am accustomed to and have had done with every car purchase I’ve made prior to this one. Hopefully this is helpful to the dealership and customers going forward! More
